The problem with P0456 is that it is so broad - it simply says there is a small leak in the evaporative control system, the emission system that prevents fuel vapors from being released into the atmosphere (sounds simple, but they manage to make it complex). The first source has a good definition and details. P0457 is a rare code that is not nearly as sensitive as P0456 - it will pop up if you leave the cap way loose or off. (See source 2 for the definition but not the details.) The most likely cause is a bad seal on the gas cap, especially given the age of your Subie. The other causes of evap leak codes are mostly deterioration of other rubber parts - I fought a battle of cracked hoses near the gas tank on my old Volvo - and your vehicle is too new for that and too old for misfitted parts. I bet if you get a new gas cap from the dealer it will fix the problem. Aftermarket gas caps are not to be trusted.

Q:someone sent me a wii message and the blue light came on. so i go back to the wii menu and they blue light starts flickering really wierd and the screen turns black. it wouldnt turn of so i unplugged it. and when i turn it back on i have to do the wii settings like when i first got the system and all my wii contacts were gone and it gave me a new wii number. and it said you have a new heat-in system. this happened to me before. it is either from your tv screen, electricity, or that you have played the wii too much so it over heat and most of the time it is because of overheating

Q:i have a 2001 chrysler sebring that the BCM went bad. so I went to the auto salvage and they replaced my BCM. thing is, when i got home i locked up my car as usual. then later i wanted to go to the store, so i attempted to get back in my car when the horn kept beeping and parking lights flashing. i‘m assuming the BCM was original to the 2001 sebring with some anti theft. when i bought the car used from a private person he only gave me a key, no remote or anything, just a key. well turns out that the BCM in there that got fried was the wrong BCM for that car to begin with, thus the BCM frying on me, so anyway. now that the right one is there i need to know how to bypass the system so my horn will stop beeping and i can start my car because my car will start but die immediately i think is due to the anti theft. so how can i get my car at least to the dealership so i can have the remote lock/unlock programmed? any advice? please.

Have you look at the computer it may be bad a bad computer will not let the car start it will crank all day but if the computer is bad it will not start at all

Q:i own a 2001 maxima and noticed that the airbag light has been blinking. i just bought the car about a week ago and is has been blinking since then. does anyone know how to fix this or what it could be? any help is appreciated.

The blinking of the light is usually in a two digit code that tells what is wrong with the airbag system. Counting the flashes to get that number code, then looking up in a auto computer book, or online for your make, model of car can help identify the problem area. Many times it is just a case where a car has been damaged in an accident, but not one to have set off the air bag, but has caused a wire to come loose in the system to ground. You would have to trace out your air bag wiring to find it, but most times it just isn't economically feasible to take it to a dealer to do. The light will flash a certain number of times, pause for about two to three seconds, then flash another number of times. After each code flashing the light will be off for several seconds before it starts to flash again. Once you have the code that is flashed you can then start looking to the code info online for your car. There are several places to do this, including some manufacturers sites. Good Luck.

Q:2005 Cavalier I was driving down the expressway last night and all of a sudden the service engine, abs, and track off lights all came on and wouldn‘t go off. I pulled over and checked the brake fluid because that‘s the only thing I could think of and it was full. I just replaced the brake shoes about a month ago so I doubt thats my problem. Does anyone know what my problem could be or what to check on the car? I am at a loss here, please help

The abs and traction light is a bad abs sensor and depending if it is four wheel anti lock brakes it can be on any wheel.So go get the codes read and see if they can tell you which sensor is bad and see if there is a engine code may be just from the abs light.Being you just did front brakes the chances are that the bad sensor will be up front.
