Q:I have a 1997 Plymouth Breeze with the 2.0 four cylinder engine. The light came on over the weekend and I took the car straight to Auto Zone for a scan of the OBD2 system. The only code that registered was P1494, I called the chysler dealership and they said it was a leak in the evap system. Most likely cause was a loose or missing gas cap. I checked for this, and even went to the expense of buying a new one. After the new cap was installed, I had the code erased. I reset my trip meter and drove about 90 miles and the light came back on. I‘ve had a mechanic check the lines and hoses running from the fuel tank to the charcoal canister and then to the engine. All were tight and in good shape. I was also told by the dealership that the leak detection pump might be bad. This is a small vacume pump that keeps a constant vacume to the evap system. My Haynes manual shows this pump, but my mechanic says there isn‘t one on my car. I‘m now being told the problem is my O2 sensors??????

Could be from gas cap loose or leaking, make sure you get a replacemet from Dodge after market cap isn't good enough. Far as leak in the line is very hard to detect where the leak is unless you use smoke machine. smoke machine leak smoke out of the trouble area. Far as leak detection pump might be sitting on the top of the tank. Is more than that p1494 just tell us canister system fault,pump,hoses,cap,solonoid etc.

Q:I took the seats out of my wife's 2007 Eclipse to clean the interior and now the airbag light inside the tachometer and the passenger seat belt light will not turn off. Is there a way to clear the code and reset whatever system is causing it without paying diagnostic and service fees at a dealer?

On okorder has the fault code charts to tell you what is wrong! Although it’s a pay site ($14.95/day), it’s a lot cheaper than going to the dealer. Some vehicle manufacturers accommodate systems without a scanner (like Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Acura, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda & Mercury) . Q:I have to put my key in the little keyhole next to the gearshift to get it to reverse. My brake lights don‘t come on but my headlights do. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks for any help.

The way the shift interlock on your car works is that for the control to know that you have your foot on the brake in order to take the car out of Park, the system looks to 'see' if the brake lights are on. So the inop brake lights are the reason you can't take it out of Park without using the emergency key release. In almost 100% of the cases, the problem is with the brake light switch. It is at the top of the brake pedal lever under the driver's side of the dash. if you look under the dash and follow the brake pedal up to the top you'll see it. You'll need to have that switch replaced. You should be able to buy the switch at any auto parts store; they are usually about $20. If you are going to have someone else do the repair, call around and ask for quotes to replace the brake lamp switch. Hope that helps

Q:I have a 250 Rebel, and there was no ignition when we got it, so we put a car ignition on it. The key turns off the electrical system, but it won‘t kill the engine. That‘s not the problem, though. Ever since this ignition was put on, the battery drains while it‘s running. Dad seems to think it‘s a short. What‘s wrong with it?

Sounds like it's wired up incorrectly, causing a mild short or an open circut, draining the battery.

Q:I got some ebay projector headlights for my camaro. I should of listened to the majority of people who say ebay projectors suck. They look nice.but I can‘t see much: the beam pattern is all spread out and strange, and doesn‘t extend far at all. Is there any way I can upgrade them so I can see more and farther? Should I aim them higher? Get better bulbs? Will improving the bulbs give me a more lit up area? Thanks for your help.

I recommend to get you some 8000K hid's because it has that noticeable blue tint to it. But for clarity issues they the 6500K's and the have just a hint of blue in them. But you can see the roads clearer and just remember the higher the number the more color it has to it than clarity. 6000K-white, 8000K-light blue, 10000K- Violet, and anything beyond that would be purple.

Q:I am working on a 92 Camry, 1.6 motor, auto tranny. There is light brown oil in the radiator. The owner of the car said he drained the water several times but there is stil that same color oil in there. I was thinking either the gasket or radiator from the tranny. I checked the tranny fluid and the motor oil and it was clean no water in it. The motor runs and sounds reallly good. Could it be possible, when he purchased the car, the previouse owner had a bad head gasket and ended up getting oil in the radiator, then repaired it and now the oil in the radiator is so thick that it hasnt flushed out when we replaced (flushed) the coolent? There is a little smoke out the tailpipe but it doesnt smell sweet like coolent. It‘s very little smoke but constant, maybe bad rings? there is also water dripping from the tailpipe, and the weather is not cold. I dont remember if he said the water in the rad goes low fast. anyone know? I‘m changing the head gasket anyway on Wed but dont want 2.

With the Radiator Cap off and the Engine running for a minute or so do you smell Exhaust in the Radiator? Yes, Head Gasket. No, Transmission Cooler Lines, New Radiator needed.

Q:I've asked this question on here before, and got nothing, so please help me out. Every time i power down my system fully, the light up mouse and keyboard i have stay lit up. It is very annoying to have to reach around the back of my PC to turn off the power supply so the dim red glow of the Thermaltake mouse and keyboard shuts off.

When your computer shuts down completely, there is absolutely no USB power feeding the mouse or keyboard lights UNLESS you have a back-up power surge protector connected to the computer that may keep the lights on. If you have the basic hook up to a wall outlet, Double check that you are not putting it in hibernation or sleep, because sometimes when you click on shut down, there is a list of shut off commands and shut down is not always first choice or auto selected at times, so you manually have to make sure you select SHUT DOWN. are these wireless devices? do they have batteries? you might have to turn their power buttons off as well if they feature on/off switches. sorry if I couldn't help the day ;)

Q:When the fan is set to on position the furnace runs fine. When in auto the burners light and heat up, you here a click when the fan should start but nothin. the burners shut.

My suggestion leave it on the on position and call a repairman man.
