- Q:Does anyone know of any places that offer emergency electrical wiring assistance in Florida for the low income? I own my home and live in Lakeland but this home was built in 1970, my electrical socket in the living room shoots sparks the circuit panel is old and a bit rusty and shot sparks last night my lights go out just about every other day for short periods of time I dont know what to do and cant seem to find help if anyone knows anything PLEASE let me know, im so scared im going to come home to a burned down house im so poor i cant even afford homeowners insurance so im in a bind!
- Try just shutting of the circuit breaker to that part of the house until you can afford to have this fixed. That is the safest solution.

- omg.first off, only 2 outlets in yur room doesnt appear to meet code anyways why not simply add an outlet on each wall? Personally best way is running thru the studsby the way the NFPA code for outlets states you must not be anywhere along the wall space longer than 6feet from any outlet.or on smaller wall spaces 24inchesso an average bedroom of 12 x 11 would need at min 4 outlets. where a 12 x 13 would need more give or take depending on doors.
- Q:I plan to install a 220V appliance on one side of the kitchen. However, the 220V outlet is on the opposite wall below the counter. Can I run the electrical wire from the outlet down, and then through the floor/concrete slab to the other side? I'll have to make a groove on the slab for the wire. Any safety issue? Is this legal? (Note: Running the wire through the ceiling is not achievable.)

- Q:I would like to wire two wall sconces on either side of my fireplace. I was planning on continuing the electrical circuit from a wall outlet located near the fireplace and including an inline switch. The outlet is on the left side of the fireplace so I was planning on running the wire 6 feet strait up from the outlet, over three feet, installing a new electrical box and mounting the sconce. The question I have is, how can I run the wire to the other sconce on the right side of the fireplace. Can I run the wire in the wall in front of the fireplace? Also is there any electrical codes that require switches to be a certain height off the floor? I live in southern California.
- Usually only one outlet is controlled by the switch. But check it out by plugging the lamp into both. If only one is indeed coltrolled by the switch you need to shut odd the power at the breaker panel, remove the cover plate and the outlet from the box. there's a screw on each side of the outlet for each plug. loosen the screws, make a bend in the wires, hook the wires on the screws and re tighten them, teassemble and turn the breaker back on. Try the light.

- Q:Hi,I have 5 earth wires in a blue plastic electrical box. My understanding is that to be to code I have to twist the 5 wires together, put a wirenut on and then do individual pigtails to each of the three switches. I have the biggest wirenut I can find, a wiregard 18-8 AWG 19-006 #6 red .I can't get all the wires in there what is the other option? I can't be the only one needing to deal with this problem? This will be inspected.
- Use a larger wirenut. WT54 blue will do it.
