what is the advantages in using mild steel as raw material in an experimental machining?
- *Mild steel is ductile and can be easily machined. Generation of heat is less than that of steel machining. So, the tool can have better life and you can do more machining. Cost factor is of prime importance as other steel are more costly than Mild steel. Mild steel, a grade of steel that does not harden when heated and chilled with cold water, so further machining can be easy. Mild steel is easily available. You will find it in your scrape yard. No need to change the tool repeatedly and no special tools are required for machining. Above is the comparisation between alloy steel,SS and superalloys. Cutting speed and feed does not required special skills.s
Will lava melt steel?
- some lava is hot enough to melt steel. Mostly, though, the metal would react with the lava and get eaten up that way rather than directly melting. Most lava can contain an awful lot of iron and other metals without any difficulty and are rarely saturated with those metals.s
what does steel receivers mean on an airsoft gun?
- it means the receivers are made of steel. the receivers on an airsoft gun is pretty much the body of the gun. So pretty much whatever you see on the outside is steel.s
why does steel have a density range when other metals do not?
- Steel is not a pure element it is an alloy. Steel is primarily iron but it has many elements blended in that change it's density including carbon, silicon, nickel, chrome, etc. Aluminum and copper , magnesium and so forth can be the pure element or they can be alloys too. If they are alloys, then their densities vary alsos
Shaft stiffness in steel irons???
- If i understand you correctly, i think you misunderstand shafts. Steel shafts vs. graphite shafts these days is more of a competition of weights, not flexibility. Both steel and Graphite have different flex profiles available from Ladies (L) to super stiff (X). Graphite may feel a little more whippy than steel because of the lighter weight. Shafts will vary by company as well. Stiff from True temper may not be as stiff as one from Aldila, or vice verse. You can also make a shaft play stiffer or more flexible by where you cut the length. This is called tipping. Take more from the bottom and it will be stiffer, more from the grip end and it will play more flexible.s
whats better? steel irons or graphite?
- Graphite Or Steel Ironss
Aluminum and Steel brittle or ductile based on these results?
- Only steel(of this pair)might be liable to brittle fracture, which would be implied by almost zero elongation or reduction in area at fracture. On this basis the steel has not failed by brittle fracture.I would expect much more elongation in pure aluminium than your sample shows so I presume it to be brittle unless it is an alloy rather than commercially pure aluminium. However brittle fracture in metals is a particular phenomenon to be determined by impact tests and examination of fracture surfaces and is particularly relevant to metals with the body centred crystal structure.s
Will this steel rust?
- carbon will rust.. stainless doesn't rust unless it touches carbon so its definitely not stainless. Since its only 1.7% its extremely unlikely that it will rust unless you leave it outside for extreme long periods of time. Either way you should take care of it. Put it in the garage or something but you don't have to dry it after every use.s
