Carpet on Carpet...HELP!?
- Herrman is the only one to get it right so far.. This are special and very thin mats that allow a rug over carpet ( or carpet over carpet). But you must get one just for this because it also comes for rugs over hard wood and rugs over a hard surface.Do NOT get the shelf liner material type this won t work properly. They come as a netting type material or a felt looking material. They grip and protect the rug from sliding and bunching up..They will collect dirt and dust naturally and all you have to do is toss in the washer on a gentle cycle and the tackiness comes back. This tackiness leaves no residue and will not harm the bottom carpet. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GLs
How do I salvage soaked carpet?
- use a carpet cleaner to extract the water let it finish drying after extracting all the water you can then just shampoo it as you normally woulds
Can you make a rug using sheets, without a loom?
- It's called a rag rug. As already described, cut the sheets into long strips and make braids. A five strand braid is wider and flatter than a three strand, so is usually the braid of choice for a rug. Once you have finished the braids you can sew them together side by side into a round or oval shaped rug.s
What kind of lotion does cleaning company use to clean the carpet? Will it do harm to human health?
- Cleaning company cleaning blanket is sure to use cleaning agents which are partial alkaline; talk about the seriousness of the health damages
my large area rugs are wrinkled (because furniture was on them) how should I unwrinkle them?
- If you spray the carpet LIGHTLY with a mist of water and then place a plastic garbage bag over the wet and wrinkled area and weigh it down over night, that should press out any wrinkles in the rug. Just be absolutely sure to remove the plastic bag over the carpet in the morning as you do not want to cause any sort of moisture problem as you need to leave the rug there, flat, to dry. If that does not work, you may need to use steam. Put your iron on the lowest temperature setting that will still allow steam. Fill the water reservoir and allow the water to heat up. Then, place the iron an inch or two over the rug and press the burst of steam button on the iron to release the wrinkles in the rug but do NOT iron the rug or allow the iron to touch the rug. Allow the rug to completely dry. Either one of these two methods can be used as I have tried both, successfully. I do not know which will work for your carpet because I am unaware of the fabric content of your rug.s
Kinds of durable carpet?
- Look at the carpets used in pubs and restaurants - they are usually an Axminster weave incorporating a design and colours. Plain carpets just don't suit kids and pets - every little mark will show. Unfortunately, the current fashion is a bland decorating and furnishing scheme which goes with the rage for the Japanese/minimalistic look, but isn't family and homely, friendly, let your hair down lifestyle. The most hard-wearing carpet mixture is 80% wool and 20% synthetic. A Wilton weave is good and is either plain or up to three colours - with the above fibre mix it will last not only your lifetime, but that of your kids, too! Can you find carpets made by Brintons of Kidderminster in your neck of the woods - they usually supply the big cruise liners, and other large areas which will suffer a great deal of foot traffic.s
knitting/crochet patterns for a rug?
- One of the problems with substituting other yarn for rug yarn is that rug yarn is generally more resilient because you need to be able to walk on it, however, I have done some latch-hook work and have found that chunky 16 ply yarns are similar in thickness to 6 ply rug yarn and are therefore a reasonable substitute. 3 or 4 strands of knitting yarn may also give you a similar thickness and may work for you purposes but won't have the same resilience as proper rug yarn.s
using oxiclean in a carpet cleaning machine?
- this isnt a good idea.. Oxiclean is an optical brightener and most home machines dont have the suction to remove all the soap or cleaner once applied and that is why carpets get dingy so quick due to the soap residue and probably like most people recommended is good more is better right? all that added soap dint get pulled out by the machine so it is left to dry in a sticky mess.. using oxiclean and your carpet color Im afraid if sunlight hits it it will turn it kind of an off green color. What I do for my carpets I run vinegar and water. mainly and then spot spray with the cleaner.. depending on the carpets age and material what you are seeing as dirt and dingy may be wear patterns and those will never be removed.s
