Motorcycle Trainers Bike?
- You didn't say where you live. In some places (UK) you have to start small and work up. In other places (US) you can start as big as you like. I know they use 125s and 250s for training, but partly that's because they're cheaper to maintain and operate and also partly because in training you do all of your riding in an empty paved lot at 10 mph and big bikes are just clumsy at that speed. If you never rode on the street, only in parking lots, and never above 10-15 mph, a 125 would be all the bike you'd ever need. If you plan to ride on the street, but never on the highway, never above 50 mph, then you'd never need anything bigger than a 250. If you plan on going on the Interstate more than a couple of miles at a time, 500cc is the minimum and 650cc would be better. Personally, I don't think a 500 or 650 is too big to learn on. It's quite a bit bigger and heavier than a 125, but not that much bigger than a 250. Maybe 50 lbs. That's not as much as it sounds like. I know lots of people who learned to ride on 650s, in fact some 650s (like most 250s marketed in the US) are designed as trainers, as 'entry level' motorcycles. The Ninja 650 is not an especially hard bike to learn on. I think this is just one reason it's so popular! Almost any viable, rideable, reliable motorcycle is going to cost you at least $3k. Anything cheaper than that is probably someone's 'project' that's been sitting in the garage for 5 years and they just want to get rid of it. If it runs at all, one thing after another will probably go wrong with it and it will just break your heart. Also I'm not convinced of the advantages of ABS. It makes a bike more complicated, taking wheels off, changing tires, changing sprockets or chains all become a lot more complicated.s
Motorcycle’s back brake won’t squeeze/compress.?
- Keep bleeding the system, there is still air in there. Next time don't bleed the brakes on a simple tire change, just gently force the calipers back enough to clear the rotor and since you shouldn't be riding hard on a new tire anyways take it easy on the rear brake for a little bit, it'll settle into place faster than that new tire.s
How much horsepower does a stock XL1200 sporster have?
- In the 2008 model year, Harley-Davidson released the XR1200 Sportster in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The XR1200 had an Evolution engine tuned to produce 91 bhp (68 kW), four-piston dual front disc brakes, and an aluminum swing arm. Motorcyclist featured the XR1200 on the cover of its July 2008 issue and was generally positive about it in their First Ride story, in which Harley-Davidson was repeatedly asked to sell it in the United States. One possible reason for the delayed availability in the United States was the fact that Harley-Davidson had to obtain the XR1200 naming rights from Storz Performance, a Harley customizing shop in Ventura, Calif. The XR1200 was released in the United States in 2009 in a special color scheme including Mirage Orange highlighting its dirt-tracker heritage. The first 750 XR1200 models in 2009 were pre-ordered and came with a number 1 tag for the front of the bike, autographed by Kenny Coolbeth and Scott Parker and a thank you/welcome letter from the company, signed by Bill Davidsons

Do you use the rear wheel brake of your bike ?
Is a Yamaha Virago 250 a better idea for getting around town than getting a scooter?
- Always choose a motorcycle over a scooter when you have a choice. Motorcycles have better suspension and won't get thrown around like scooters. Motorcycles are heavier and wont get blown around like scooters. Motorcycles have stronger brakes and will stop faster in panic situations. Motorcycles have more power and better acceleration to veer away from potential accidents. Motorcycles have larger diameter wheels and won't get swallowed up by pot-holes and won't bounce up in the air when hitting a bump. A motorcycle's engine will last longer than a scooter. Motorcycles are safer to ride in the rain. Don't get me wrong, scooters are dependable, get a little better gas mileage, cost less to repair, easier to push home when they break LOL and are fun to ride. But when given a choice, get a motorcycle.s
What kind of brake fluid?
- DOT 3 or 4. No, No and NO to DOT 5 in that bike. It didn't exist when that bike was made - at least for mere mortals. DOT 5 is silicone based and DOT 3 and 4 are glycol based. They are totally INCOMPATIBLE with each other. While you can use DOT 5 in your Honda, You MUST have ALL of the glycol based fluid out of the entire system. NOT an easy task. DOT 5 has a higher boiling point and isn't hygroscopic (absorb water) which makes it suitable for racing systems. You Nighthawk has NO need for this. Use DOT 3 or 4. Be careful. DOT 3 and 4 brake fluid will eat paint. Don't dribble and if you do, clean up immediately.s
