I have two pieces of aluminum parts (like long cylinders) with elliptical cross sections (diameters 60mm and 500mm)I need to join themIm afraid welding might mess up the surface of the parts where they join (its important for me to have them joined as smoothly as possible)what other options do i have.for example ive heard of dowels but dont know how to use them .do i drill two holes on each part and just insert the dowels? any other suggestions are appreciated

I'm baking cookies and I don't have a flat wooden or plastic surface for foodI don't trust the counter with food on it directlyShould I put aluminum foil on it?
I used to do this all the timeUse a well floured tea towelDon't use a terry towelIt will stick terribly to foilYou can safely bleach graniteI do it all the timeThe granite counter makes a great surface for rolling (not cutting with knives) as long as it's well floured.
i just bought a john boat and im trying to repair leaks in rivets and also the transom.i removed the bolts holding the wood transom on and now i want to put it back on the boat.is there a sealer are gasket i can use to put between the aluminum and transom wood??there are alot of bolt holes holding the transom on and i dont want it to leak.
all boats are different - the jon boat however is easy to repair - you should use some heavy-duty right angle brackets to re-install a new wood transom - cut and shape the wood for a near ''o'' tolerance to fit the rear of the boat - go to the ''glue section'' of Lowe's or home depot and find a product of two-part epoxy to seal the wood to the metal - if applied too heavily it's okay because when dried you can paint over and it will look fine also the rivets are a two man job - try to hold the rivet head with the side of a shop hammer (use like an anvil) and tap the smashed end of the rivet tighter _- after tightening the rivets use the epoxy to seal the old rivets to the inside floor of the boat - this will also cause the boat to run quieter and decrease the leaks - alot of bolt holes in the transom can be fixed with the replaced new wood - the size of the motor is a factor to consider,,, the larger the horse-power the stronger the transom must be to hold the pressure of the motor pushing the boat thru the water.
I have some cookie sheets, and I am wondering how to clean them, as they have that brown stuff stuck on thereI have been looking for an answer forever, and I can't find.Help would be muchos gracias (greatly appreciated)!
start out hot then turn heat down and cook things slow the temp comes up more evenly and if you wait till the center is to temp the out is over doneMeat is still cooking even when you take it out of the heat because the heat is still going to the center from the out sideThats why you let a steak rest for a couple of minutes before serving so the jucies have time to resoke the meat
Hi, I would like to know how I make my own coin dies for tokens.I have tried using aluminium and hammering nails in to make the basic shape, but it's just dots :(Thanks
Making detailed dies for tokens is going to be hard-the way the pros do it is to create a large plaster model, and use what's called a pantograph to reduce it to the dieObviously, that's probably beyond what you want to do at this pointOne other problem is that the die needs to be harder than the material you're strikingIf you're planning on doing these tokens in metal, it's going to be tough to find something softer than aluminumYou could try getting the dots as close together as you can, and then hold the nail at a shallow angle to carve out the metal between the dotsIf you've ever seen anybody do woodworking with a chisel, that's the effect I'm talking aboutIf you've got $30 or so to spare, you might want to buy a metal engraving tool, which I think would work a lot betterJust make sure to wear safety glasses.
For a physics project, I need to make a 4meter long track for a marble to travelThe objective is to have the marble reach the end without breaking a single sheet of toilet paper (single ply) or showing any signs of tearIt needs to start on a hill (obviously), do a loop, and go over a bump and must last at least 4meters long. Now the problem I have here is the material to use, I tried some pvc piping, but its not flexible enough, and the next thing I have in mind is cutting a garden hose in half, but I fear that a garden hose would be too narrow and provide too much friction, so what is a good, sturdy, flexible material that would fit say a $20 budget?
