phyiscs of skateboard wheel?
- 1) what are the advantages of a large wheel? It rolls more easily over cracks and bumps. Larger contact area, lower contact pressure on the ground, less deformity of the wheel, lower rolling resistance. 2) what are the advantages of a small wheel? Lower inertia, so less gyroscopic moment and faster turning response. Smaller turning radius. Will wear out faster also, since the circumference is smaller and spends more time touching the ground. 3) how is friction realated to skateboard wheels? The larger the wheel, the larger the contact area on the ground. So, the normal force is distributed over a wider area, and is therefore lower at any one location. The friction (rolling resistance is lower). But, the air resistance of a larger wheel is also larger. 4) how does the size affect the amount of friction in a skateboard wheel? The smaller the wheel, the greater the rolling resistance, all other factors remaining equal. This is because the force of the ground on the wheel is applied over a smaller area. So, the contact pressure is higher and causes more local deformation of the plastic. Same principle as riding a bicycle on hard vs. soft tires. Takes much more effort for the soft tires, since they are much less 'round' at the point of contact than a hard tire. 5) Why do large wheels absorb more of the bumps on a rough surface? Larger contact area. Its sort of like walkign through the snow on snowshoes vs. sandals. The snowshoes spread the force out over a bigger area and so the wheel is less affected by small defects. Also, the rolling resistance is related to the relationship of the wheel radius to teh size of the bumps on a rough surface. A large wheel will roll over a cobblestone road much more easily than a rollerskate will. and if you have any sources of were u got them My head. Hope this helps, -Gurus

Ever been a third wheel?
- Ohhhhhhhh much, much worse. No kidding, and absolutely not a semblance of exaggeration, I was a 15th wheel this past Saturday night! 15th!! I was in Seattle for the weekend staying w/ a couple of friends (a couple, of course). It was one of their friends bdays, so we went out. When we arrived, there were 4 other couples there, thus making me an 11th wheel. Within the next hour, 2 more couples showed up - making me an amazing, unprecedented 15th wheel. Yikes! I'm pretty sure I now own the Washington state record for highest and most pathetic wheel count. Yeah.s
When my jeep is in 4 wheel drive, the steering wheel shakes when turning. Is this normal?
- Take the Jeep out of 4 wheel drive when you are on pavement or something will break. And do not put it back in until you are driving on snow or mud. On sharp turns you are forcing the outside tire to slide around a larger diameter circle than the inside tire. In 2 wheel drive they can turn at different speeds so there is no problem. In 4 wheel drive the wheels lock up, which gives you excellent traction but on dry pavement you already have traction,s
Arc length - connected wheels?
- If your bike has ordinary spoked wheels, then there are already tubes installed. Unless the tires are dying of old age and have never been changed since new, the rubber around the valve stem is dry rotted or they have been patched before, then the old tubes should be ok. If for some reason your bike has air tight wheels, then do NOT install tubes. Every manufacturer has went to tubeless tires on just about every wheeled machine there is for a very good reason. If you run a nail through a tire with a tube, it is going to lose air VERY quickly and you won't even have time to pull off the road before you're riding on the rims. A tubeless tire will seal around small objects like a screw, nail or piece of wire and will either leak very slowly, if at all. A few years ago I had a sheet rock screw run through my rear bike tire and it took it 3 days to go flat.s
What size skateboard wheels are good for.?
- 70mm or above is best. The larger the wheel the longer you will roll without pushing but the longer it will take to get up to speed. 70mm is what I use on my longboard for downhill riding. But if by cruiser you mean longboard then I don't know what size your skateboard can hold. Becuase you gotta remember if you are riding with your trucks real loose try leaning to either side and look for the amount of clearance between your wheels and deck. If it is a very small amount you don't want to get bigger wheels because then you run the risk of getting wheelbite while turning and then getting thrown of your board onto all those rocks. And no one likes road rash. Especially with little rocks inside the wound.s
