The oxidation number of Aluminum (Al) is always +3.
Eating utensils?
YES-YOU CAN ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I put stainless steel bowls in my 10 year old microwave all the timeHere are some don'ts: 1don't put foil in the microwave 2don't have metal covering the food you are trying to heat 3you can use a metal bowl as long as the lip isn't too big 4don't use forks, meat thermometers, metal utensils 5don't use aluminum pie plates When you put a metal bowl or pan in the microwave for the first time, stand there and be sure it is not going to spark or burnIf it is going to do that, it will do it within the first 15 secondsOnce you have approved a container, you can use it again without much concern.
I just got my new dryer installedThe venting accordion hose that connects from back of dryer to the wall is so darn long, all I needed is about 12-15 inches of itThe guy who came and installed did not want to shorten it, said it was against store policy (Lowes) It's looks all scrunched up but the guy said not to worry, no damage will occurHe made it so that it kinda snaked around but space is tight and the laundry closet isn't the roomiest.Do they come shorter, or can I have it shortened? I believe it's made of aluminum he said, the old one was made of plastic
If it aint broke din't fix it! We all have our eccentricities and it doesn't sound like your behaviour is affecting your life right now but if it gets worse talk to your family doctor about it.
Quick discription of the experiment:Anyway, this can be replicated in the home by taking a glass dish, putting a piece of heavy aluminum foil in the bottom, then filling the dish with hot tap water and adding a teaspoon of baking sodaStir well, and place the silver object in the solution, making sure that the object touches the aluminum foil at the bottomAfter several minutes, remove the silver item from the pan and rinse with waterYou find out that the tarnish disappearsThe process can be repeated if the tarnish is heavy.Questions:3Why was it necessary to heat the water that you mixed with the baking soda?4Why was aluminum foil used instead of another metal?6In the space below, type the redox half-reaction for the chemical reactionIdentify which material is oxidized, and which is reduced.
Heat the water to increase the rate of the reaction Aluminum foil was chosen for it's electronegativity; you're creating an aluminum-silver batteryroughly Al + AuOn - AlOn + Au The silver has already oxidized (tarnished) so it must now be reducedHence,it is the aluminum that is being oxidized.
Best way to block windows that don't involve curtains?
aluminum foil blocks light and reflects heat.

How about looking into either parts of North Jersey or Staten Island? One time I stayed in Staten Island-it was just for the weekend, but it was pretty inexpensive, the Staten Island Ferry is freeSo the city is just a quick 20 or 25 minute ferry rideThis was about maybe 2 or 3 years ago, the hotel was a couple miles from where you'd board the ferry, I'm pretty sure it was only about $5.50 to park your car in the lot for the whole dayStaten Island isn't the most exciting area, but it's an ideaAlso, there's Hoboken Weehawken (I think I spelled that wrong) in NJThey're pretty close to NY too, though they're starting to get a bit more expensive since alot of people started moving there-it's so close to Manhattan, it's a pretty nice areaBut it's still probably cheaper than staying right in Manhattan.
