- Q:I bought a data cable for our nextel motorola i850 cell phones. How do I use it? It didn't come with a disk or instructions. (stupid OKorder seller) I tried just plugging it in but my pc won't find it. I have windows xp internet explorer 7 firefox.

- Regarding the data transfer question, I can offer three suggestions: 1) buy a thumb drive for about $10 and plug it into the laptop. Copy your data to it and then connect it to the new computer and copy the files from the thumbdrive to your new PC. 2) buy a cross-over data wire and use it to connect both computers together. You'll need some instructions for how to make this work, so it's may not be your best option. 3) get a friend to help you connect both computers to the same router, and then to help you connect both computers together to allow for file transfer. This option will depend on how much your friend can help with. Sorry I couldn't be a bit more specific, but I'm trying not to confuse you further. Hope this helps

- You don't need one. If you have a memory card once you plug it in, it will automatically detect it like it would a thumb drive or a hard drive. (it'll be in My Computer) If you don't have a memory card, I'm not too sure i you can. The same method might work, but I am not positive.

- From the point of view, this is the reason the data line is too small, the current is insufficient, USB can not drive, change the line, or rough, or short, certainly enough.

- Q:I need to connect two laptops with a communications cable to transfer data between them. I had backed up all the data one from one computer to the other, by linking them them with a communications cable (i don't know if it is a croosover cable or anything). It had worked, and i had copied data by browsing the computer through the other one. But know i can't figure out which ip address i had given each and blablabla. I need to connect them successfully and transfer data. THe computers both have xp, one has home edition, other professional. please help.
- Go into your Network Connections folder. Click on Setup a new Connection and the New Connection Wizard will appear. On the first page you are asked what you wish to do, select the option of an advanced connection. Follow the pages and ensure that the Workgroup is the same for each system, and that the computer names are different. Do the same on the second computer and you will soon have a connection between the two computers where you can share data and printers if you wish to do that too. It is all very simple and easy to do when you use the Wizard. You will eventually come to a page which asks if it is a virtual private network, select no. The next page asks who will be able to connect to the computer, select the account you wish to use on the other computer for file transfers. Finish up will each page it is pretty self explanatory. You can delete this connection at any time. Just right click on the connection in the Network Connections folder and select the option to delete the connection. You may need to disable the connection first. If the delete option is grayed out, select disable, then right click again and now select delete. Good luck and much success in getting your two systems communicating with each other. It is really not difficult, as you can create as many network connections as you like. It is a good idea to name each connection a descriptive name in order to easily tell which is which at a glance.

- The battery in your phone is likely a Lithium Ion battery. These batteries are charged with a constant current limited to 1C or less. You should check the amp-hour rating of your battery, but it is probably around 1000 mAh so you can charge it at 1000 mA or 1A maximum. But it is always preferrable to charge at a lower current than the maximum. The Lithium Ion needs to charge at a constant current until the maximum voltage is attained, then the charger must change to a constant voltage charger and not exceed the allowed charge voltage. As the battery charges, the current will drop. Once the current drops below 3%C, the battery is charged and the charger must be disconnected. The USB voltage (Vbus) is 5V and your cell phone battery is probably 4.1V. So a low dropout regulator (LDO) can drop the charge voltage to 4.1 volts from the 5V. Placing a current limiting resistor in series with the LDO will limit the current to the battery. As for the wiring, a standard 4-wire USB cable has the VBUS on pin 1 and the ground on pin 4.
