Introduction:
Similar to those used in commercial nurseries, this seed starter has hinged cells that open like a book so you can inspect root growth or remove the plant for transplanting.
Roots are automatically air-pruned to create a denser root mass, and grooved sidewalls direct them straight down to minimize spiralling. Seedlings slide out easily, avoiding damage to the root system and associated transplant shock.
Cells are 5" deep by 1-1/2" square. Each reusable polystyrene kit is made up of one 14-1/4" by 8-1/4" frame (requiring minor assembly) and eight four-cell books (for a total of 32 growing cells).

- Q: I just bought some plastic wrap from Costco and it has a minor odor. I don't recall other brands of plastic wrap having an odor from the ones I previously bought. Is this normal? There isnt an expiry date or anything on the box.
- I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most plastics off gas after production. Costco has large packages of just about everything. When you have a larger amount of a plastic product you will get more smell from the off gassing as well. This is why you would notice the smell on a larger roll of plastic wrap and not on a smaller roll. This would be normal and nothing to worry about. If the odor really bothers you I would leave the package open for a few days and this may help the smell to dissipate.
- Q: Can ground cover plants be used to prevent soil erosion on riverbanks?
- Yes, ground cover plants can be used to prevent soil erosion on riverbanks. These plants have extensive root systems that help stabilize the soil, reduce water runoff, and hold the soil in place. Additionally, their dense foliage provides a protective layer that helps to absorb the impact of raindrops and minimize erosion caused by wind. Overall, ground cover plants play a crucial role in reducing soil erosion and maintaining the stability of riverbanks.

Additionally, the compartments in nursery trays help prevent root entanglement and allow for proper drainage, ensuring healthy growth for butterfly garden transplants.
- Q: My mom is almost ddone with building her chicken coop. Now she is just putting on the finishing touches. She is wondering if chickens will nest in plastic boxes if they are cut right and such.
- For my nesty boxes I used old kitty litter boxes cat carriers set up on straw bales. The chickens seem to think they are good enough. I use regular straw for the floor. Once I made the mistake of thinking hay would be better as it smelled better, but it was much harder to clean didn't last as long as the straw when it came to keeping the smell down the droppings from sticking to the floor. I heard people complain that their Rhode Island roosters being aggressive toward them. You might want to check out temperment as each breed has it's own personality. You also have to go to reliable sources for this info, as people who breed a certain type are probably going to tell you they are 'OK' even if they aren't. I had problems with the Buckeye roosters being aggressive, but had no probs with Easter Eggers Isa Browns. The roosters don't use nesty boxes. Really the only time hens use the boxes is when they are laying eggs. I have a few hens that lay in the boxes at night, but 95% of them use roosts or sleep in the rafters. The guineas are VERY loud squawk a LOT. If you plan on having them sleep in the barn, you may get sick of them squacking every night when you go in there to lock the barn door. That's what happened to me.
- Q: Can ground cover plants be used to create a natural air conditioner?
- Yes, ground cover plants can help create a natural air conditioner. Ground cover plants, especially those with dense foliage, can provide shade and lower the temperature of the surrounding area through the process of evapotranspiration. This cooling effect can help reduce the need for artificial cooling systems, making them a sustainable and eco-friendly option.

This promotes successful grafting and improves the chances of a successful union between the two plant parts. Secondly, plastic clips are lightweight and easy to handle, making the grafting process more efficient and less labor-intensive. Additionally, these clips are durable and resistant to weather conditions, ensuring they can withstand outdoor environments without deterioration. Lastly, plastic grafting clips are cost-effective compared to other grafting methods, making them a popular choice among gardeners and horticulturists.

Farmers fill the seed spreader with seeds and then walk or drive the spreader across the field, releasing the seeds through small openings or holes. This ensures that the seeds are spread uniformly, allowing for consistent plant growth and maximizing crop yield.
