The fibers will be much nicer, softer, fluffier in the sheets if you wash them before use also. The comforter should be dried on low heat with a couple of tennis balls (clean, please) in the dryer. The tennis balls will help fluff up the stuffing in the comforter. And you can partially dry the comforter and then hang it outside also.
