- Nu-Metal is a vauge term mainly becasue alot of people use it to describe any form of metal they percieve as false. But the standard definition (Or at least the one ive heard from encyclopedic websites like Wikipedia, Encyclopedia Metallum, etc.) is that its alternative metal that incorperates rap influence, such as slipknot, Linkin Park, Limp Biskit, etc.. I would classify the band in those videos as more groove or thrash metal.

- I'd say Pantera. I can't think of any bands prior who were termed as 'groove metal'. These guys created groove metal as a departure from pop metal and glam rock, making metal less 'mainstream' (hair bands were reaaaaalllly popular), and real. Dimebag Darrell (guitarist) was a main influence.

- Don't use plural terms when you're referring to metal. I thought you were asking a science question for a second, haha. Its THRASH not TRASH by the way. Unless you're a fan of black and death metal, they're both gonna sound the same to you.

- You are not strange, plenty of people your age listen to Metal. From what I've seen though it is one of those genres that people rarely get into as adults. You pick it up as a teenager and grow out of it or love it forever.

- not really...some of these bands have a few decent songs...Korn has a few good songs on a couple albums, but most of their stuff sucks. Limp Bizkit's first album was really good and then they took a massive nosedive. Disturbed's first album was listenable but now they just annoy the f*ck out of me. Slipknot is about the same as Korn, a few good songs but mostly crap. Linkin Park sucks hard, so does POD. Papa Roach has a handful of half-way decent songs, nothing special though. Static-X haven't listened to much, but didn't seem all that bad, not that good though either!!

- No, because in terms of riffing styles, lead guitar work and instrumental techniques metalcore is closer to punk than metal. Death core only really takes breakdowns (which aren't used often in death metal) and drop tunings from deathmetal, the majority of instrumental techniques are from punk. So it's more a sub genre of hardcore punk. But of course Hardcore punk died, so metal gets lumbered with it...
