Q:what is the best way to paint the interior side of a metal door; ? It is in the kitchen which exits into the garage...... what kind of paint should be used ? and does it need primered? What type of bursh, roller excetera would be best to use?? so to leave the least bursh, roller ect. marks ..... paint wise id like something that would be washable. Thanks
Bought new door was advised not to have a factory applied finish since it might get dinged during installation unsure of final color. Wisdom from contractor ........ Door was factory primed so all it needed was a washing. Would prime if bare metal. Applied Bengamin moore latex eggshell interior paint using a good brush for details a small mohair roller for flat surfaces. No marks at all , stands up to large dog cleans up well. Best regards
Q:Can the door of the bedroom be covered with metal doors?
Indoor bedroom door, you can use metal doors, but people feel too cold, bedroom doors are basically used are wooden doors. Metal door is also a common type of bedroom door, the general use of aluminum alloy or in the steel plate filled with blowing agent, the use of accessories used stainless steel or galvanized material, the surface paste PVC. This door gives the feeling is too cold, and more for the bathroom decoration.
Q:will they get zapped after im done zapping the knob i what im trying to say.
No, the door knob cannot retain an electric charge. If you held the bug zapper to the door, then they could potentially get shocked (since the door knob is a conductor, but not a capacitor).
Q:How do I prepare my metal door for painting?
There are a few things you need to determine first: 1) Is the door painted already and you want to put a new coat on? 2) Is the door dirty or have any rust on it? 3) Is the paint peeling off the door? I would start by looking at these three things first. If the door is brand new and not primed then I would recommend using an oil based primer. First use a denatured alchohol to remove any oil or dirt from the door. One coat should do the trick. Let it dry overnight and then give it a light sanding with a 200 or 220 grit sandpaper. Then use a tack cloth to wipe off any dust, making sure to get into all the grooves and detail (if there is any). Then you can use an oil based paint on top. One coat of this should work as well. You can also use a latex based paint as well. In either case, I would recommend using a semi-gloss finish. It's a lot easier to clean dirt and fingerprints from the door. When applying the paint, work the brush in one direction. Don't brush it on like your basting a turkey. You could end up thinning the paint as you brush it on. And don't overload the brush with paint either. You could put a lot more paint on in one spot and the finish will be uneven when it dries. If the door is already primed, make sure it's clean before applying the top coat. If the door is painted with a glossy finish, use a 220 grit sandpaper to lightly sand the glossy finish off the paint. Make sure you use the tack cloth to clean off the dust. If the door is painted but the paint is chipping off, remove any loose paint and follow the steps I mentioned for an unpainted door. You should come out with a nice looking door. If you are going to use a dark color (like hunter green), then apply two coats of the final color for the best finish and depth of color. Any questions, let me know.
Q:I am in the process of stripping the inside of my garage (into kitchen) door. It is metal, and has about 6 layers of paint that are coming off. I dont want to go through this again, so I need some pointers. First, can I use a latex paint? If so, semi-glossy, or high gloss? It previously had eggshell on it, and attracted SO much grime. I would prefer not to use oil-based paint unless absolutely necessary, as fumes can trigger seizures.
First, you can use latex, but make sure the primer can be used on metal. Your local paint store should have a salesperson to guide you to the right primer. I would suggest a latex semi gloss for the finish, but that is just a preference. As long as you get a good quality paint, like Porter paint, it will be highly washable not matter what the sheen. The hard part is the preperation. Once you have the door stripped just prime and paint.
Q:Home in the decoration, the balcony of the aluminum door do not want to use, and ask you where there is recycling, worthless ah?
As if to help you installed people, willing to recycle. But the price is not clear
Q:This is a metal framed glass swinging door with some miles. It has an adjustment screw which I cannot figure out. Right now the door does not want to close centered on the jam, but instead wants to finish 6 inches off center. Does anyone know how to adjust this kind of door?I cannot identify a brand name on the door anywhere.
you have to back the adjustment screw out to allow the center pin to 'float freely ' then with the door in place lift up on it enough to twist the pin where you want it and retighten the set screw it is a trial and error process but really doesnt take long once you figure out how much you are having to compensate for on a couple tries
Q:CUTTING A NICE METAL DOOR THE MATERIEL I NEED TO WORK ON A NICE METAL DOOR
You can cut the bottom off of a metal door. You will need to take the door and set it up on a stable work surface. First, remove the weather strip on the bottom. Determine how much needs to be cut off and make your marks or draw a straight line. Attach a straight edge with clamps above your marks equal to the distance that the edge of your circular saw (skill saw)blade is set back from the side of the base plate. Make sure that you have a good metal cutting blade installed in your saw. Cut the door, ensuring that you move the saw along at a steady pace. You may want to insert a wooden filler into the space that is open now and reinstall the weather stripping. For safety sake you should be wearing a dust mask and face sheild along with ear protection and long sleeves. Also ensure that you do this away from any combustible material as sparks will fly. You will have to sand, prime and paint the cut area of the door once completed

Q:Cannot screw hinges into door because screws have nothing to grip onto. Cant use toggle anchors either. Was thinking of using dowels but then again, the dowel has nothing to support it... What about just squirting a tube of liquid nails down the inside of the door and inserting galvanized screws (despite only being held by the adhesive..) The door still weighs 100+ pounds with all the waterlogged wood in the center
Sounds like you are referring to a typical metal clad door. If the wood is rotten, there is not much you can do with the door but scrap it and buy a new door. Any other method will just delay the fact that the door has to be scrapped. You require solid material to hold a 100 pound door on the hinges. Liquid nail is meant to fasten materials to-gether with a thin layer of the compound; NOT as a filler. A stop gap solution which may work temporarily is epoxy. If you can fill the area inside the door with enough epoxy and let it set; then you may be able to drill a small pilot hole into the epoxy after it set then insert the screws to hold the hinges. This would only be a temporary fix as the moisture inside the door will eventually cause the steel cladding to rust through. Personally you are wasting your time and money keep that door.
