Q: just wondering this but where in the hell does iron from space come from??? i watched some show on the histroy channel about iron asteriods on how they could destroy earth but i did not hear on where the iron comes from. where in space?????: Iron production is the last phase of most stars, trillions of stars have spewed untold tons of iron into space and a lot of it ends up as asteroids, once in a few million years one these asteroids hits our planet and can cause great destruction. Scientists are aware of this and there is a faint hope that we will be able to alter the path of any that are headed this way.

However, unless you are suffering from iron deficiency anemia, no amount of iron is going to increase your hemoglobin count. You could take iron after the event, to speed up recovery, but most people do not have a problem in getting back to a normal level. 65mg of elemental iron ( usually in salt of iron about 300mg ) is the treatment dose for simple anemia. Toxic levels for an adult male start at about 700mg of elemental iron daily. If your hemoglobin level is normal, you need no more than 20mg daily for good health. Plenty of foods contain iron including green vegetables and liver

Q: who discovered iron actually?: There's so much iron on this planet they didn't discover it, they stumbled over it. Stumbled over it so many times it was inevitable they'd eventually notice it. Nobody knows who the first person to notice it was, but it's thought to have been a tribe, rather than a single individual. The name of the tribe can't be pronounced nor spelled in English, so nobody knows what it was. There was no point in memorizing it because they couldn't pronounce it to one another and ask it of students on tests. What's a lot more interesting is how the Chinese almost certainly 'discovered' carbon steel when a slave fell into the vat of molten ore and it was concluded by observation and testing that a human body in the mix made a far better alloy for weapons than iron without a human body incinerated in it. It worked and became the earliest tried and true method. Great illustration of assuming too much with too little data.

Solid iron can be melted or sublimated (converted directly to gas without melting), and liquid iron evaporated, if you provide the appropriate conditions. In reality, at any given P-T (pressure and temperature) conditions, all substances have an equilibrium vapor phase, which means that all substances will lose some molecules to the gas phase if there is space available for the gas phase, and thus all substances will evaporate completely if the system is open and the vapor phase is removed continuously. The only question is the matter of time; equilibrium vapor pressure can be extremely low so in practical terms, complete evaporation (probably sublimation in most situations with a solid) could take an absurdly long time. It is the presence of this vapor phase that makes it possible to detect solids by smell. You must have noticed that iron does actually have a particular odor of its own. Q: I usually iron them when I want to wear them but it would be easier if I ironed a lot at a time. What works best for you?: I iron right before I wear it. I have small closets and if I iron it before I hang it up it tends to get wrinkles again anyways! Sometimes if I am being lazy and it isn't too badly wrinkled I just toss it in the dryer on low heat for 5 minutes then hang it up while I take my shower. That works most of the time :)
