Q:I have to take calcium and vitamin B twice a day, as well as iron tablets, also twice a day. I am told calcium prevents absorbtion of iron. What should be the interval between the calcium tablets and the iron tablets? Is one hour enough?
Regarding iron, there is evidence that calcium can interfere with its absorption. For this reason, it is advised to avoid taking iron supplements with calcium supplements or even with milk. Additionally, some studies suggest that ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) can enhance the absorption of iron when taken together, so orange juice or apple juice might be a good choice here. Also, some studies suggest that iron can impair the absorption of calcium. Additionally, caffeine may also impair calcium absorption, so beverages containing caffeine should be limited or avoided. Ingestion of oxalates (found in chocolate and spinach) and phytates (found in whole grains) can also impair calcium absorption. If you are worried about improper calcium/iron absorption, depending on what else you take, you can wait at least two or more hours after the iron to take the calcium. Another point to consider is that calcium absorption is increased in an acidic environment, so tablets should be taken with meals.

take an iron supplement. Increase iron through foods like broccoli and green leafy vegies. Don't exercise to the point where you feel lightheadedness, you will pass out and can really hurt yourself. Tips on loosing weight: cut out regular sodas (if you drink sodas, that is the same as eating 10-15 teaspoons of table sugar in each 12 ounce can). start walking (increase distance every week). drink plenty of water (2-3 liters a day). eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegies. snack on fruits and vegies instead of chips, cookies, etc Good luck to you.
Q:so i had coco wheats this morning and it has 90 percent of the daily iron needed in it and i ate other stuff with iron in it so if i go past 100 percent of the daily value can i overdose?
haha its just a hypochondria the nutritional value of 90% is just the amount calculated considering ur absorption in 100%we usually only absorb 10% of the iron we take. and it also depends on other factors like acidic food will increase absorption while tannins in tea for eg will reduce it iron overload only happens when you took supplemental iron cause it contains elemental iron - 100% pure iron and in patient who underwent blood tranfusion regularly as in thallassemic patient - and it will be problematic only after about 15-20 of blood transfusion. so if u ask me will u get iron overload after eating large amount of coco wheat? the first thing u will notice if u take tooooo much iron in ur food is ur stool turn black ( only occur in iron supplement ) oo to make ur hypochondria worse - iron over load can cause cardiomyopathy + diabetes + skin pigmentation + stunted growth + delayed puberty + liver cirrhosis

Iron deficiency is the most common mineral deficiency in women. The best source of iron is obtained from eating meats (Heme-Iron sources). Vitamin C also helps with absorbing Iron especially if you don't eat much meat and get your iron from other foods (Non-Heme Iron). Then your last option would be an iron supplement, but that is never the most effective to get any vitamins or minerals. Here is website with some good iron sources and more information. Q:I am a runner and i do alot of it and i was wondering why it is inportant to have enough iron and what are the benefits from having the right amount of iron? Also i take a vitamin that has iron but it has more calcium in it and i know calcium absorbs iron so will taking this vitamin decrease the amount of iron that i intake? also is it better that i take a seperate iron suppliment to make sure i get enough so it will help?
