What you have found out is accurate. Your running and OS that is capable of using 64 bit hardware but is now only being reduced to 32 bit. Some software you are now running will be expecting 64 bit ability but be slowed down by the hardware. The 32 bit OS would not try to address the hardware in the same way. It's as if you put a powerful engine in a car with a tiny transmission. It won't go any faster if the gears don't want to do it. When the computer seems slow it's probably trying to do things which are redundant and unnecessary because you have a 32 bit machine.

You should be getting Workman's comp. Its an injury that happened at work, regardless whether it was from their negligence or not. If you sue and still wanna work there, they cannot fire you.
