What is the (balanced) chemical equation for steel?
I hate to differ but I must. Steel is a mixture of iron and carbon but the carbon content ranges from a small fraction of a percent to no more than 2%. Stainless steel is an alloy of Iron and up to 15% or so of other metals but since there are several types and many varieties in each type it's hardly worth getting into. A good common hardenable high-carbon spring steel is AISI 1095. In this code the 95 refers to 0.95% carbon. When the carbon level goes up to 1.5% to 2% the steel is very brittle and black with the highest carbon steel being pretty much pig-iron.
Having a new kitchen and would like to know the pros and cons of stainless steel as opposed to white appliances. I can only think of finger marks on the SS, which I believe are difficult to remove. Anyone had both that they could advise please?
Like others said about Stainless Steel, plus if bleach accidentally touched it, it will leave a permanent scar, Stainless Steel can be cleaned with water and soap then with baby oil. White will be better.
Steel coils are typically used in the production of automotive exhaust systems as they provide the necessary material for manufacturing exhaust pipes and components. The coils are often processed and shaped into the desired forms, such as tubes or mufflers, and then welded or fastened together to create the exhaust system. Steel coils are favored due to their durability, heat resistance, and ability to withstand the harsh conditions of exhaust gases, ensuring the longevity and efficiency of the automotive exhaust system.
How would you calculate the maximum plastic deformation (expansion) a steel pipe can handle before it actually fails?
You can calculate the maximum reversible strain, for elastic loading as follows: You need to look up the yield strength (for that particular type of steel). Divide this yield strength by the elastic modulus of steel (also called Young's modulus). That gives you the strain at the onset of yielding, the maximum you can strain the steel fibers before crossing the point of no return. If you are interested in the strain until failure, you need to take tensile test measurements. Seldom do people document an equation to model the non-elastic portion of the stress-strain curve of the specimen, because seldom do we design systems to operate with materials which yield. We want systems which only deform reversibly and elastically. This means you need to perform an experiment to find what you are actually desiring to know.
what are the properties that can strengthen the steel to withstand earhquake?
okorder can give you helps.
I've heard different things bout them, though I do not know this. Oh, and if you know where you can buy some raw or get custom made stuff out of black steel please let me know it would be greatly appreciated. Oh and my friend told me there is a black steel that can be sharpened and silver will be underneath, is this also true? Thank you very much for answering ^^
My son is a bit and spur maker,I asked him about that and he told me that it is a tag they put on bits so a novice person will pay more for a bit that is not any better. Steel is Steel You should have a lot of bite with that bit because it is a pretty fine diameter. The black patina will wear off with use. BTW he just sent two silver bits to a big show in Reno Nev. I have not seen them or pictures of them but he has a $2,000 price tag on each of them. They must be real elaborate probably very fancy spade bits with highly engraved multicolored different metal butterflies on the ports.
I'm trying to buy a Survival, tactical knife but don't know what steel is better
This Site Might Help You. RE: Whats better chrome vanadium steel or carbon stainless steel? I'm trying to buy a Survival, tactical knife but don't know what steel is better
Stainless steel coil is primarily used in various industries for its durability, corrosion resistance, and aesthetic appeal. One of the most common applications is in the manufacturing and construction sectors, where stainless steel coils are utilized to produce a wide range of products such as kitchen appliances, cutlery, automotive parts, and architectural structures. The corrosion-resistant properties of stainless steel make it an ideal choice for applications that require resistance to moisture, chemicals, and harsh environmental conditions. Additionally, the high strength and heat resistance of stainless steel coils make them suitable for use in industrial equipment, heat exchangers, and piping systems. Moreover, the aesthetic appeal of stainless steel, with its sleek and modern appearance, is often preferred in the design and production of consumer goods, including furniture, jewelry, and decorative items. Overall, stainless steel coil is a versatile material that finds extensive usage across various industries due to its excellent mechanical properties, resistance to corrosion, and aesthetic versatility.
