Q:My grandma passed away and she had these chairs. She only bought 4 and I would like to buy two more to use with my dining room table. She never mentioned where she bought them and there is only a warranty: if I were you, I'd get two matching armed chairs for the 'king and queen' at the ends of the table and use these on the side of the table..... and I'd make the two chairs be along simpler lines, but still beautiful on their own... like maybe in leather on wingbacks... or a lovely damask on parson's chairs skirted to the floor....

Country A has to give up making only 1 table to make 5 chairs, so its opportunity cost of making chairs is 0.2 tables. Country B has to give up making 1 table to make 1 chair, so its opportunity cost of making chairs is 1 chair. Country A should produce chairs because it has a comparative advantage.

Q:Im trying to lower my office chair but it is different then my last one. My last one had some lever that you just puch and your weight will lower it like hydralics, but this chair is different it dont have that lever the only thing it has is some type of knob that turn at the bottom. I tried that and nothing happens does anyone know how to lower these types of chairs?: If it's an old chair, it's possible that spinning the chair will raise or lower it. Otherwise, it's possible the raise/lower lever has fallen off and you can order a new one of those (look on the bottom of the chair). Or, it's possible that the chair cannot be adjusted. (the knob is just a tension adjustment as you recline...it has nothing to do with raising or lowering the chair)

Q:How do I go about dying the white cotton chair covers from Ikea upholstered chair collection? I would like to dye them a neutral color such as tan or brown and wouldn't be able to use a washing machine. If not advisable to do this at home where can I get it done and about how much would it cost (ballpark)?: The only way to do it at home is using the stove top method described on most of the packaging of dyes. But to do a chair cover you will need a huge container in order to get the dye to saturate them and not have areas that remain white where there are wrinkles in the fabric. Most laundry mats in my area specifically have rules against using their machines to dye fabrics. But, there are a few dry cleaners in my area that will do it for you, but it is expensive. I had them dye a throw a while back and I remember it cost around $80.

You really have to know what you're doing to make a good one. But you can just build a box - something to sit on. It doesn't have to be super heavy or strong - just enough to hold you up. But a nice graceful chair is a very difficult job and takes every tool in the shop.
