Q:I am just curious as to what alloy wheels are. What are the benefits?
I'm not sure but my 2000 Dakota had a recall on the ball joint's . Your Durango might have one also . I would contact a different dealer and inquire about it . One that has no knowledge of your truck.
Q:How the alloy wheels can be distinguished from normal wheel? What difference do alloy wheel make in terms of performance / handling / road grip? Is it worth while to make investment in alloy wheels (in terms of difference in performance)?
Normal wheels are made from a pressed-steel rim, and a pressed-steel centre disc which is welded to the rim. They are cheap, but heavy and generally unattractive, and they are prone to rust. In an impact they tend to bend, sometimes making it possible to continue driving after a serious impact (but at greater risk, so drive carefully). Alloy wheels are made from aluminium alloy, usually cast but sometimes forged. Most are made in one piece, but some can be made of three separate parts bolted together at the rim (lots of tiny bolts around the wheel rim). They are generally more attractive, lighter and less prone to rust. Cast wheels can fracture in a severe impact. The light weight can give benefits in roadholding and handling because of the reduced unsprung mass of the wheel assembly. This means the wheel needs less energy to move in response to bumps, so improving the ride and keeping the tyre in contact with the road surface for a greater time. However this benefit can be lost if the wheel is bigger than the standard, or the suspension is stiffened from standard.
Q:Is there room under a mini cooper to fit wider wheels?
Talk to the Tire Rack, and review their website. They test fit wheels and have an enormous database of what will and will not work. You'll be able to see different style of wheels, even pictured on your car, as well as data on their diameter and width. They won't recommend anything that won't fit. I'm sure that you'd be able to squeeze something a little wider under there, using a wheel with the correct offset. Remember that wider doesn't automatically mean sticking out further. A wider wheel can also tuck in more (not a technical term, but hopefully you can picture what I mean).
Q:I want to get soft wheels that are able to excelerate fast, grip the ground pretty good, and are good for cruising. I skate with hard wheels size 51mm. What brand should I buy and how much millimeters should it be.
I wouldn't go any smaller than 61mm for cruising wheels, and keep the durometer at about 75-90a. Bigger wheels will go faster, but take longer to accelerate. Softer wheels grip better and go over obstacles better, but are slower. Check out Pig, Santa Cruz, Sector 9, ABEC 11, Cadillac, Powell, Gravity Kryptonics, Bennett and Tunnel.
Q:Could someone please explain in detail the difference between rear wheel drive cars and front wheel drive cars and 4x4 cars. Also could you explain the benefits of the 3 types of cars. Thanks alot!
RW drive is where the rear tires are used to propel the car forward. FW is where the front wheels propel the car. 4x4 is when all 4 are turning giving you better traction. FW is better handling in snow as is 4x4. RW drive gives you better speed.
Q:who makes this rim (wheel) ?
The first guy was right.
Q:My friends keep asking if my fixie wheels are manufactured what does that mean??!? can someone post a picture and are Manufactured wheels better?
Not all wheels are manufactured. Manufactured wheels are produced by companies like Mavic, Shimano, Rolf, Crane Creek and others and made with and by machines in factory's. Then you have Custom made wheels that you yourself would go to a bike shop and pick out the Rims, Hubsets type of spokes you want and all the other things you would need to have the built by the shops mechanic or wheel builder, or if you are knowledgeable about wheel building and have the equipment you could take home what you choose and build them yourself. As far as manufactured wheels being better or not, that would depend on who's building the wheel, some people prefer manufactured, some like a custom built wheel. The big advantage to customs wheels is you can get exactly what you want and depending on how much money you want to spend you can really have some good looking light weight wheels built.
Q:i just got my longboard from nordboards and i dont think it was assembled right only one wheel moves freely, and when i tried to loosen the bolt on the other wheels they still did not move as fast as the one wheel. the wheels that i loosened the bolt on got so loose that they even moved back and forth on the truck.does that mean that the wheels were not put on the truck itself correctly? how do i fix this?i want the wheels to move the same and fast like the originali have a sector 9 Carbon Decaygullwing charger trucks 10Rush Abec 5 bearingsOrangatang IN-HEAT 75mm wheels
A few things come to mind. The bearings might not be seated correctly. Set the board on its side and take off the axle nut. press down firmly and evenly on the wheel. Flip the wheel over and repeat. Do this for all 4 wheels. So,e wheels require a bearing press to get the bearings seated properly. The nearest skate shop will have one. The bearings just might need to be broken in. Riding distributes the lubricants evenly. The bearing shields might be dented or pushed in. if they are rubber shields, just pop them out with a thin knife. Metal shields can't be fixed. The bearings could be bad. There should be a slight bit of play in the wheels. If the nuts are too tight, the wheels don;t spin. be sure to use the speed rings. Bearing spacers are unnecessary and can cause more problems than they are worth. Spacers are not made to very high tolerances. The tolerances in the wheels and bearings are much higher. Friction causes the spacers to wear and the buts get into the bearings and cause bearing failure.
Q:today is my bday and someone wrote blessings as you turn the wheel what does this mean
The wheel is the wheel of life. The person who gave you the card was wishing that good things come to you as time goes on.
Q:which is best wheels for drag racing?. weld or bogart or others?
there is a rack that slide of the top of your car or van and then moves back . I do not know the name of it. Another way. If you hav upright bars on the car is to place the ropes from the top of the bar under the kayak. hold both ropes taught, and kayak will be lifted up slightly and fall on to the ropes. the lower the ropes down and kayak will slide down. It way need some support to stop falling but no effort is needed. Reverse to place on the car. the staff at Gelmore lodge will have information and leaflets
