- Q:I really want to get one done and I would like it if someone could tell me how badly does it really hurt? During and after. I know everybody has different pain thresholds but on average? I'm just nervous to get it done but really want another piercing on my ears. I have my lobes and a cartilage on my right ear. How easy is it to clean? rate in numbers as well as a description. - Well of course it depends on the person. Some people say the piercing isn't bad at all, while some say it is really painful. Some people say the healing process is absolute hell, but for some people it's a breeze. I got an industrial 3 months ago, and i would rate the actual piercing process as a 8/10 (10 being the most painful). It was pretty painful in my opinion, but the good thing is that the pain doesn't last long at all. Most people i know who have industrials say that the healing process is more painful than getting the piercing, but for me it was the complete opposite. Immediately after the piercing it throbbed and was a tiny bit sore for about an hour, then for the next 2 days it was completely painless. But after that, it was pretty sore for about 2-3 weeks, but it wasn't that bad. Now after having it 3 months, it still feels a bit uncomfortable when i sleep on it, sometimes it's a tad bit sore, but no big deal at all :)

- Q:So I had a scaffold/industrial done about 10 weeks ago, and its been infected at the top hole only for about 3/4 weeks. It has like a little bubble near the hole and sometimes its filled with pus a little bit and sometimes its not. Well I went the doctors about 2 weeks ago and he prescribed me a weeks worth of antibiotics as well as anti-septic cream. So I took the pills for a week and it was clearing up, I was also applying the cream twice a day. But then yesterday I noticed the lump has gotten a little bit bigger. I don't know what to do, should I take it out? But I really don't want to. And plus the doc said to wait up to 3 weeks and if nothings changed to go back and take it out. If I continue to use the cream, will it eventually go? Thanks :)

- Antiseptics are too harsh for a healing piercing, the pain, swelling and redness is completely normal. Stop using antiseptic and go to the grocery store to get some non-iodized sea salt, its only a few dollars and you can find it in the spice aisle where the regular salt is.
