- Q:I had never heard of Kirby until the other night when a couple of Kirby salesman came to my door asking if I wanted to have my carpets cleaned for free.
- We bought a used '94 Kirby in 1996. We paid $400. for it. I like the powerful suction, but it also comes with drawbacks. The following are my opinions about this Kirby: 1. I don't like the cost of replacing the filters (they're about $8. a bag and only have 3 bags in a package. 2. It's not easy to change from vacuum to using the hose. 3. It's kind of heavy and bulky and doesn't maneuver easily. In my opinion, it's not worth it. You can purchase a bagless Dyson for around $500. and they work great. Does the $1800. price include all of the attachments? Do you need all those attachments? Are all the bells whistles worth $1800.?

- First of all, unless your mother is very enthusiastic about her vacuuming, don't fix it for her birthday. Take her out to dinner, buy her a nice pair of slippers and her favorite perfume. Not a vacuum. All you can do is clean it out as much as you can. Look for larger objects that may have been sucked in and remove them. If it is clogged with a bunch of hair from someone or some pet, try and stop that hair from reaching the floor. Combing your pet on a regular basis and throwing away the hair not only helps your animal in the summer heat, but also keeps the hair off the floor. Good luck, and find a better gift for your mom than a working vacuum.

- First see if you need a new bag or to empty out the collection area. Rather than baking soda at the food store in the cleaning area they should have stuff you can shake on your floor then vacuum up. Mom did this once and it smelled good for a few weeks after too each time she vaccumed.
- Q:Hoover or Kenmore? I say Kenmore, because a gladiator would like greater quality. I have thought Kenmore would be a gladiator's best friend when it comes to vacuuming. I have thought that the guy would go for Kenmore Progressive canister vacuum cleaner to buy and use, instead of a Hoover vacuum cleaner that is made in China or Mexico, for quality reasons. I thought Kenmore would sound more gladiator-like than Hoover. Also because of performance and that a Kenmore would hold up better than any Hoover that is one the market. I would say gladiators in general prefer Kenmore over Hoover for quality, performance, reliability, and ease of use. Because of this. I do think it would be a minority of them that would prefer Hoover than Kenmore.

- Q:There are 4 adults and 1 dog in my home. One of the adults tends to quot;shedquite a lot and has ruined every cheap vacuum we have bought with her hair. - I have been in the cleaning business for 20 years and have had some experience with vacuum cleaners. I think you could have an excellent vacuum for around $300-$400. (Panasonic, Sanyo, Sharp) After seeing the Rainbow demonstrated, I just don't think they are worth the money. I also don't get how they clean the air. Basically, they are passing the dirty air over some water (not through it). and call this cleaning the air and filtering out the dirt. Check out some of the above vacuums online and save yourself some Christmas money. I just recently bought a Sanitaire SC6600 for our house and we really like it. Paid Approx. $325.00. It is commercial, 2 motor system, tools and stretch hose on board, carpet or hard floors (your can turn the beater brush off and just have air flow). Hope this helps.
