Q:Help with Steel and Iron please?
Steel is an alloy composed of mainly iron and carbon. Pure iron is very rarely used anymore. Depend on the concentration of the carbon, you can get from wrought iron to high grade steel. For stainless steel, Chromium is added to the alloy to prevent rusting. Just go to wiki. you should be able to find a lot more about it
Q:what do you use (wet stone or steel) to sharpen a carbon knife blade?
There are many ways to sharpen knives. I guess your question is whether to use the steel that comes with knives, or a stone. Steels are only to straighten the edge, which is stropping. They won't sharpen a truly dull knife. For that you need a real sharpening system, of which a whet stone is one. The edge of a knife will get wavy with use - that's what the steel is for, to true it back up.
Q:why would you clean metal with steel wood?
Steel wool is a mild abrasive. I don't know what it is you are cleaning, but it is probably to remove any coating or oxidisation from the metal. Maybe you are using a metal for an electrode (perhaps a steel nail pushed into a lemon?).
Q:Purchase Steel - For Construction Purpose?
It has been a few years since I was in the business but I have found that some steel from some countries can be quite different from the standards steel made in the US. For instance, one in 5 of my Indian made cast iron fittings would break when tightening it down. This never happened with US fittings. Even though I could take it back and get a refund, the increased price of US made materials was worth the savings in time and trouble. On a job in Columbia, the 3 inch angle iron came to us in 4 different sizes, all around three inches but not quite. This is not to say that all foreign metal is bad. One RD project I headed up we found a foreign bearing steel to be far superior to anything we could get in the states.
Q:Components of Steel?
Steel is iron and carbon.
Q:Steel EASY 10 POINTS!?
steel is used for cars and trains. one of the largest steel manufacturers is in my town its called CarTech its in reading pa.
Q:Prefabricated Steel Buildings.......!?
It really depends upon the environment and the construction techniques used. Steel that is painted or coated will without maintenance eventually rust. I would expect this tendency to be exacerbated in a humid or shore environment. Heat may tend to cook a steel house and the structure does not add much thermal mass. Construction techniques tend to be fairly quick a part of the construction is essentially prefabricated. Work done in a factory will almost always be cheaper than work done in the field, all things being equal. Concrete can be fairly hi tech with lots of equipment or as seen in many parts of the world fairly low tech with lots of laborers. It is easy to change the characteristics of concrete depending upon how it is mixed, reinforced, and treated during the curing process. Because it is applied in a relatively fluid state it can flow around obstructions like bedrock and be formed up into interesting shapes. A concrete structure can be cooler as it provides thermal mass, and a heat sink. It's resulting rigidity may make it more subject to earthquakes than steel. We do really need to be smarter in constructing our homes to make them fit the land and not only the general environment but our particular micro environment.
Q:Steel Garage...........!!?
Maintaining Your Steel Garage: # Clean your garage doors with a mild detergent using a soft car brush four times a year. # Clean the doors whenever they wash you car (washing your garage doors regularly will reduce the build up of corrosive elements) #Avoid using any abrasive cleaners or corrosive chemicals on or around your garage doors. # Avoid using salt near the garage door as it may corrode the door elements / hardware. Or you can paint your steel garage: #Step 1 Clean the door using a low-pressure sprayer. Combine 5 gallons of warm water and 1 cup of low-phosphate detergent to clean the surface. Rinse well and dry the surface. #Step 2 Lightly sand and smooth the scratches which do not go through to the metal substrate. Dust off sand residue. For a door with a baked on finish, use a powdered cleanser (diluted with water) and a soft brush to rough up the surface for better paint adhesion; do not use sand paper. Rinse with water and allow it to dry. #Step 3 Apply primer to areas where scratches permeate to the metal substrate to avoid future rusting or corrosion. Allow it to dry. #Step 4 Paint the door with an even coat of latex exterior house paint. If your steel garage has a dent check out the site(the last source link at the bottom)
Q:Infi steel tactical folders?
infi is a brand name steel. They have it specially made and the composition is supposed to be a secret though it is similar to 52100. I have used knives from Busse and their sister company Swamprat Knives. Both companies make good knives, even if their advertising may be a bit odd. They are pricey, but are also very good knives with good steel and ergonomics. If you have the money they are a good option. I don't know if Swamprat still makes knives, but I have a 4'' folder from them in s30v that is great. Benchmade makes some great knives as well, though not nearly a custom as Busse. Take a look at the 913, a 3.6'' D2 blade that was a spring release and G10 handle for a good price. An excellent knife.
Q:Steel mine question help!!!?
The existence of them would be a good start. Steel is produced from iron ore, not mined.
