- Q:So my boy almost 1 year loves to scratch my chair. I don't really care because I don't like the chair, however I do not want to encourage this behavior because I will eventually get a nice sofa and chair. He usually stands up and scratches the corners so I have put the sticky paws tape in the corners, then he started laying down and scratching the bottom, so I put sticky paws tape on the bottom. He has now moved to the middle of the sides and back. I'm not taping anymore of the chair as that no longer bothers him. hes scratches through now.I've tried different smelling sprays- bitter apple, hartz brand and some all natural thing.He has scratchers and posts all over. he has ones that vertical, horizontal, diagonal-made of carpet, sisal and cardboard. he has one that is coved even (like a house) he sleeps in it. the largest is next to the chair he scratches and I kid you not, he steps on this scratcher to get to the chair.

- Q:My son recently participated in a regional honor band. The band consisted of 28 trumpets. They had to audition for placement. - On Tuesday, Nov. 5, students from both Dexter High School and T.S. Hill Middle School, under the direction of Scott Rybolt and Jim Wade, traveled to Jackson, Mo. for the annual All District Band auditions. Our Dexter students performed extraordinarily well, said Rybolt, with 16 students from high school named to All District. Perhaps most noteworthy is that 17 students from the middle school level made the grade, which is the greatest number of students in the history of the school to be named to the All District Band. Only Jackson Schools had more members named to All District. Dexter High School, however, had the most students named to the All District Jazz Band. Students will now travel to Cape Girardeau to perform in the Southeast Missouri All-District Band Concert to be held on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Cape Central hHgh School. Serving as clinician at the event will be Gary Gackstatter of St. Louis Community College -- Meramec. The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Family and the community are encouraged to attend.

- I assume you mean the chair is being swung by a human and the human's arm is swinging, not that a whole human is being swung? So it is a case of being hit by a human with a chair or by the human's fist? The chair would be swung more or less at arms length. Assuming the arm is turning at about the same rotational speed for either the fist or the chair, the end of the chair would actually be much further from the body than the fist at the end of the arm, so the bit of the chair which makes impact would actually be traveling much faster than the fist. You can't simply compare the mass of the human with that of the chair because the mass of the chair is increased by the human who is attached to it and swinging it. Effectively the person and chair become a single bludgeoning unit unless the person lets go of the chair. Given that the total mass is similar but the chair will have greater impact because the bit of the chair farthest from the person swinging it will be moving at a greater speed, the chair will do more damage. Add in to the equation the fact that a person punching will be more likely to pull back from a full impact because of the pain involved in the fist when it hits its mark - but the chair feeds back no pain to the assailant so it can be followed through at full impact. Finally, if the chair hits at one of the padded parts then the blow will be significantly cushioned, but if it is a wooden bit that hits, that will be harder than flesh-covered bone.

- I have the Space Saver. I also have a booster seat much like the one you are looking at. Herein is the difference: The Space Saver is EXACTLY like a full-sized high-chair, except, since it straps onto a chair, it leaves less of a footprint at your table. Great for people like us who have a tiny dining room. I love that this chair has all the features of one of the huge high chairs. The padding is really cushy and comfy, and hella easy to clean. It does have a multi-position infant recline feature, but to be honest, you really aren't going to use that much. The only time I used it was when my daughter was *really* little and I was doing dishes or making meals. I'd put her in her high chair, recline it back, and she'd fall asleep while watching me. The Space Saver also converts into a toddler booster seat. Really though, my daughter is 1.5 years old and we still use it as a high chair. The booster seat you're looking at is great for when they're a bit older and can sit up on their own for long periods of time. Pretty uncomfortable bit of plastic to sit on,though, but really nice to quickly pack up and travel with. (the Space Saver is travelable, but isn't as quick to pack up). Personally, I've used all 3 things you're looking at, and own the two strap-on seats. Out of all of them, I adore the Space Saver. It's the tops. You definitely get your money's worth, and then some.

- Use a little Vasoline and a wood mallet or wood between wheel and a hammer.
