Q:I have a GM 97 Pontiac Bonneville SSE with a stock Bose Audio SystemI am installing a Kenwood head unit and since my Bose system has a built in stock amp I cant wire this myself because its not simple like 8 wires, 4 speakers, + and - to rewire its all confusing. So my question is, is there a wiring harness that will convert/integrate my stock factory radio wire clip into my kenwood clip so I dont have to do any wiring. Also I have already looked up the OFFICIAL wiring diagrams of my stereo and they ALL match up EXCEPT the 8 speaker wires, so Ive had my head unit powered and functioning, I just cant figure out the rest so I want a wiring hardness so I can keep my 4 stock speakers stock amplified so they are loud when I install my subwoofers next week.
that's confusing to make certain if the alternative of the harness will sparkling up the difficulty. in case you have faith that using at tough street is the reason for the difficulty, the broken harness could desire to be placed undeneath the vehicle.
Q:I took out the original stereo, which would power on but get only static. It had no display, which I though was just do to the age of the stereo. I cut the stock harness because I could not find any matching ones at the time (found one now, but too late). I have tried installing 2 different stereos. Both will power on, but neither will actually power up. What I mean, is that there is power coming through (you can load and unload a CD and the red light flashes when the head unit is off) but when the head unit is on, it doesn't display anything or actually let you use any functions (seeming like it has no power). It has done this with both stereos, so I'm guessing it's something with the car's wiring. Is it a bad fuse even though it is getting power? A bad wire (power wire)? With the new stereo, when you first turn the key, the display will illuminate for a split second, then nothing, just the limited power like before. The car is a 1987 Caddilac Brougham (like Fleetwood). Thanks.

Q:I have a 95' Silverado K1500 (4x4) with a 4L60-E transmission and 5.7L engine that is in need of a wiring harness. I have quite a bit of blood, sweat, and tears tied into it (along with money) and I'm not going to give up on it. Besides, it's my only hope for getting back and forth to school. I'm thinking about getting a C1500 for a parts truck. The problem is that it has the 4.3L V6. If I use the E.C.M. from my truck, will the harness work?
No, it won't work at all. Why do you need a new wiring harness though?
Q:I am in the unfortunate predicament in which I have to replace the body wiring harness on my 07 Ford Edge. I've taken it to my local dealer and they are quoting me $1800 for the part and labor. My question is should I find a better alternative to the dealer or go ahead and bite the bullet. They told that the fuse box had open pins and the entire harness needed to be replaced. They tried a couple of quick fixes but now it's time to actually deal with the problem. Thanks in advance for your help.
That's probably not a bad price for a big job like that. But it's RIDICULOUS to need a whole harness unless there was a SHORT that melted dozens of wires, not an OPEN, which means there's a break in the circuit. With a Schematic of the wiring harness a good mech/tech can replace any wires that are open. A wiring harness, especially inside the car, is made to last for 20 years or more. You should expect to pay a few to several hundred dollars, but that's better than almost $2K. I wish you were near Beaumont,TX, I'd be glad to fix your car. I wonder what quick fixes they did. You didn't say what didn't work.
Q:I have a 2008 dodge avenger with the premium sound system and navigation head unit. I wanted more power so I added a 4 channel amp. I ended up losing my mids by doing this, but didn't mind at the time as I had also added some subs, however I now want my mids and better overall sound so I bought an aftermarket radio. My question is, since I no longer use the factory amp and don't really care if I can use the steering wheel controls (getting remote with new radio), can I use a simple regular wire harness or do I still have to get one meant for premium sound systems? Also, the car had a double din navigation unit, the new unit will also be a double din unit, would I need a sleeve, or would it simply slide in replacing the stock radio? Thank you in advance for any help.
you're incorrect that is no longer a lie, sure the only factor you will see is the door chime, lights furniture on and key on the ignition are 2 extra warnings you will lose the low gasoline warning on the cluster , additionally stops working so which you will run low in gasoline sooner or later and not word, air bags supply up working and specifically circumstances the cluster do no longer artwork yet that's on 2005 and up till sooner or later the BCM do no longer see the radio and is derived to a decision to teach on the anti theft device now you ought to tow the vehicle to the broker because of the fact they are the only ones with the GM test gadget and which will value 2 ultimate harness, sure they can charge 2 to 3 hours exertions fee to reset the physique administration module and could ask you to place in the production unit radio do no longer decrease corners in this vehicle that is going to value you lot extra interior the destiny and you lose quite some advantageous properties from the vehicle ENGINE OIL life ? sure you lose that too
Q:I am wanting to buy a harness for my vehicle to install a system in it. When I am researching the harness options, they all say not for premium systems. My vehicle has a stock amp in it, is that what it is talking about?
Possibly--it depends on the vehicle. For example, most Chrysler Infinity systems will work fine with a standard wire harness, even though it says not for premium systems. Many GM vehicles have factory amps, but they're designed for use with a standard head unit, so they'll work fine with an after-market head unit using a standard harness. On the other hand, most Bose and JBL systems use a low-level output from the head unit to the stock amp(s), so a standard harness wouldn't work as well unless you used it with a premium sound adapter module. I'm pretty sure the standard harness will work for you Santa Fe's Monsoon system. You'll have to make sure to connect the wire in the harness that activates the factory amplifier.
Q:I have a 98 jeep grand Cherokee and I just bought a pioneer stereo for it. We got a wiring harness and connected everything how it goes except 3 wires ( mute, dimmer and illumination) but the radio won't come on. Should I be connecting those 3 wires? If so, where?
I dont know what any of those do so im gonna say no. You must either have a wire wrong or a blown fuse which a wrong wire will result in a blown fuse. Maybe your power and ground accidently touched when you were installing it. There is usually a fuse under the hood and in your inside fuse panel.
Q:I have a 98 Acura. I put in a Sony car stereo in 1999 or 2000 maybe. Have wiring harnesses stayed the same since then? Basically I just want to put in a newer stereo to get current features like AUX in (on front) or SD/USB slots. No amplifier involved Are most of the stereos today set up the same so I just need to pull the old one and swap the wiring harness? Or does it also vary by brand? Thanks
It does vary by brand, but most head unit manufacturers have changed their harness design (sometimes more than once) in the last 15 years. If you replace your head unit, plan to re-do the wiring.
Q:I own a 1993 Honda Del Sol and I am in need of a wiring harness diagram. It is to replace the whole wiring harness from the A/c, but it runs through my driver side headlight an everything. I want to replace them the right way but I am not sure of what all harnesses i need.
The best wiring diagram that you will find is in the dealer service manual go to your library and photocopy it or buy the manual as far as finding what harnesses you will need go to the parts dept and ask them they will tell you what harnesses you will need
Q:I bought the right wiring harness but now what? Also what should I do with the ground wire? On the stock unit there was a seperate plug where the ground wire was. Detailed help is appreciated.
use the link below and you just connect the wires together
