Q:Just a DIY mechanic and would like a car lift to make jobs easier.Anyone know the cheapest vehicle lifts? My garage is tall enough for one.
id get a side ways lift they can be installed much easier and you will not need that big hydraulic cylinder in the middle so just put hydraulic cyl. lifts into your header bar and watch all those lift links pop up
Q:In a hydraulic lift the radii of the pistons are 3.20 cm and 16.0 cm. An SUV of mass 1850kg is to be lifted by the force of the large piston (a) What force must be applied to the small piston? (b) When the small piston is pushed 15.0 cm, how far is the car lifted? (c) Find the mechanical advantage of the lift?
Pressure 1 Pressure 2 F/A1 F/A2 1850 kg / ( pi x 1/ 4 x 0.16^2 ) F / ( pi x 1/ 4 x 0.032^2 ) Force needed is 74 kg using F1x pi x d x L F2x pi x d x L2 1850 x pi x 0.16 x L 74 x pi x 0.032 x .15m L 1.2 x 10 ^ -3 m
Q:I was just woundering if you would be able to lift a mini and make it in to a off road vehicle. and if so what else would I have to do to it to make it able to go off road? thanks
The car has to be more than just lifted to be a real off road vehicle. You need your car to be light (compared to the HP) and most of all it need to be a 4WD (or you will be stuck out there in the woods). You can still lift the car for looks (but keep it on road). It will be unique look for sure. But expect the handling to be not as good. Don't forget to vote for the BEST ANSWER - please - whoever it may be. FACT: You also get +3 points when you vote for BEST ANSWER
Q:Pascal‘s principle states that fluid pressure in transmitted undiminished in every direction for a closed system. Using this principle, a hydraulic lift supports a 12,000-kg car, supported over an area of 5.0m2. If the input area is 0.010 m2, what force is needed to lift the car?
First the force that car produces equals mg that is 12000*9.81117720 Newton on the surface of 5 m2. There is a equation here F/Af/a. In this problem F117720 N, A5 m2, a.01 m2, f? (we are lookin for this). Applying the equation f235.44 N the force you need to lift the car. I hope it would be useful.
Q:What are the main categories of car lifts?
Mainly divided into: single-column lift, double-column lift, gantry lift, four-column lift, large shear lift, small shear lift, mobile lift. Large scissors lift machine is divided into ultra-thin large-scissors hoist, large-scissors lift, sub-big cut hoist, large scissors plate lift. Small clip lift machine is divided into: small clip lift machine, to keep a small clip lift machine.
Q:Could the Apollo Astronauts have picked up their lunar car?
Not with their lunar lander when they left, it was far too small and almost out of fuel. It cost a fortune to carry that payload to the moon. It would have cost far more to have taken it on a two way trip, which just wouldn't have been worth the effort, especially since there's no shortage of cars already on this planet. It would have been far cheaper for NASA to just build another one if they wanted one. Anyway, it sits there on the moon to this day, waiting for someone in the future to collect it and sell it as a very valuable antique. EDIT: Ah, I see, you meant physically pick it up, not take it away with them when they left. If the figures given by Campbelp2002 are correct then they could have easily lifted the weight since it would only be 77lb, but as he says it'd be an awkward shape. They had to assemble it there, which must have involved picking up pieces which would have been heavy on Earth. When it comes to lifting heavy objects in low or zero gravity this can be dangerous, the objects may weigh little or nothing but they still have the same mass and hence the same amount of inertia as they would on Earth. This means that a heavy object once set in motion is quite capable of crushing or otherwise injuring someone despite its lack of weight. Performing this sort of work outside on the surface of the moon also carries the added danger of damaging their spacesuit.
Q:two post car hoist/lift usually they lift to around 6foot 6 inch or two metres are there ones that lift higher
there are ones that lift higher then 6'6 some are able to be adjusted when they are first set up contact your dealer for more information
Q:I studied about gyroscopic couple, is that the force, if i want to turn my car 2500 kgs at 40 m radius by different speed, which is dangerous to tilt my car down. 1) 60 km/h. 2) 80 Km/h. 3) 100 km/h. 4) gt;120 km/h
The centripetal force, is provided by the frictional force applied by road. This can never be more than normal reaction, mg. mv^2/r mg or v^2 gr v sq rt[gr] or v sq rt[9.81*40] or v 19.81 m/s or 0.0198*3600 km/h 71.31 km/h. So 2), 3) and 4) are dangerous speeds to have while turning
Q:A hydraulic machine that can raise a car weighing 50,000 N and rests on a piston with a cross-sectional area of 2m^2, what force must be applied to the smaller piston that has an area of 0.5m2, in order to lift the car? I don‘t understand how to do this problem, please explain.
Do you have the nut off were the arm is on the splines? It is splined and hard to get them off,you may need to pry it off as they are tight to the splines.
