Q:A hydraulic jack is used to lift a 2800 pound car. If the output piston (the one the car is sitting on) has an area of 80 square inches, how much force must be applied to the 0.5 square inch input piston to lift the car?
5600 pounds because 2800/0.5 5600
Q:Suppose a car sitting on a hydraulic lift exerts a downward force of 1,750 N on a piston with an area of 0.6m2. How much pressure does the car exert on the piston?
Pressure Force / Area 1750 / 0.6
Q:im trying to get the same exact tires for my car that I have right now but I cant find them in the exact size my tires are 215/45R17 but I can only find them in 235/45R17, 215/35R17, 215/55R17,will any of these sizes fit my rims??
The one starting 235 is 20mm wider and so is almost certainly too wide for the car and they would also be a larger 18 mm in diameter and so 56mm longer in circumference meaning your car would travel an additional 56mm for each turn of the wheels which would have an adverse affect on the gearing and the accuracy of the speedometer - IT WOULD ALMOST CERTAINLY FOUL SOMEHWERE ON THE BODYWORK TOO. Ride height of car lifted by 18mm so could affect handling badly 215/35 - 43mm less in diameter so a massive 135mm shorter diameter so your car will travel 135mm less for every wheel turn thus making gearing lower and speedometer reading a lot faster speed than reality Ride height reduced by 21.5 mm - possible ground clearance issues? 215/55 43mm MORE in diameter so 135mm more in circumference so car travels 135mm more for each wheel turn increasing gearing and making speedometer read low. Ride height increased by 21.5 mm - possible handling problems Possible bodywork clearance issue To your update - no - if you fit different diameter wheel and tyre combinations like that it will cause the ABS to turn off and put the warning light on for a fault as its sensors will see the front and rear wheels always turning at different speeds. You need to try harder to find the correct tyres. Fit anything not standard and it could also invalidate your insurance
Q:hey does anybody know where i can buy cheap cheap car equipments. like car lifts, tire changers, air compressers.i just opened a automotive buisness and im in need of help. please give me some advice
Sir, I dont know wher you have opened youe establishment. If you are in India Delhi is the best place to get your reqired things at your rates.
Q:specifically, two logs joined in a A frame, I have nothing above them to hook my come along to, and the only jack I have is for my car (lifts about a foot) so how can I bring this A frame upright?
Tom read my answer very carefully, what you are doing is very dangerous and i have done a lot impossible things like this in the past. first, most rope you buy now is polypropylene (sp) and it has no strength to it. if you can not get nylon, use chain or steel cable for your safety and those around you. first, to raise an A frame, you have to have rope that is above the frame. you are able to get the rope above the frame by using a pole on a hinge to allow it to be in a partial upright position and as you pull the rope, chain or steel cable, it pulls the A frame up. you need to put stops on the frame and you need to some how anchor that frame so that it moves up to vertical but not beyond. i suggest a hand wench, you can get a decent one for under 30 dollars. use a come a-long to start the process or your car, but do it slow, do it easy look up on the net, raising wind turbines and you will see video of what i'm talking about STAY AWAY FROM POLYPROPYLENE AT ALL COSTS, IT WILL SNAP WITH ANY LOAD ON IT WITH DEADLY RESULTS email me and with an email address and i will send you a pdf drawing of what i'm talking about
Q:friction force stops a book that slides 20 cm across a tabletop. (c) A child is held 80 cm above the floor by a 150-N force. (d) A car jack exerts a force of 5000 N on a car and lifts it 20 cm. (e) A car jack exerts a force of 5000 N on a car as lowered 20 cm.I seriously need some help on how you set this problem up.
W work done F x displacement(along line of action of F) i) W 50 N x 0.30 m 15 Joules ii) d -0.20 m (opposite direction to the frictional force) W F x (d) 50 (-0.2) -10 J iii) d 0 W Fx0 0 iv) 5000 x 0.20 1000 J v) the car jack force is a restraining force opposite the displacement direction W - 5000 x .20 -1000 J hope this helps
Q:first of all, the black cat superstition is true because i saw a black cat a couple days ago before this accident took place. basically i missed a turn, tried to make the turn and hit the curb pretty hard. i can stilll drive the car but the steering wheel is misaligned (its jerked towards the left). Brakes work fine, and no physical damage done to the car were done. It‘s only the steering that is problematic. How much would it cost to get it repaired, and how long would it take? I don‘t want to get ripped of. Thanks guys.
It depends on what type of car you have but it could be $250 and takes about 1-3weeks to get it fixed
Q:A stuntman drives a car (without negative lift) over the top of a hill, the cross section of which can be approximated by a circle of radius R 227 m. What is the greatest speed at which he can drive without the car leaving the road at the top of the hill?
I am a heretic. Purists say there is no such thing as centrifugal force. There is, you just introduce a Rotating Frame of Reference. Because: A rotating reference frame can have advantages over an inertial reference frame.[15][4] Sometimes the calculations are simpler (an example is inertial circles), and sometimes the intuitive picture coincides more closely with the rotational frame (an example is sedimentation in a centrifuge). By treating the extra acceleration terms due to the rotation of the frame as if they were forces, subtracting them from the physical forces, it's possible to treat the second time derivative of position (relative to the rotating frame) as if it was the absolute acceleration. Thus the analysis using Newton's law can proceed as if the reference frame was inertial, provided the fictitious force terms are included in the sum of forces. For example, centrifugal force is used in the FAA pilot's manual in describing turns.[16] Other examples are such systems as planets, centrifuges, carousels, turning cars, spinning buckets, and rotating space stations. So draw the picture. Centrifugal Force up Gravity down Fdown M*9.8 m/s^2 Force up M *(v^2/r) M*9.8 M*(V^2/r) Cancel the M 9.8 V^2/227 GO
Q:I‘m studying which CO2 dragster is best. What does this mean:Shield as much air at the bottom of your car to maintain traction. Also, do you have any tips about making one?
Down force produced by spoilers pushes your car into the pavement to give better traction. The same affect is reversed if air is getting under the car; it causes lift thus taking away traction. Ground affects push the air away from going under the car. It is said that Indy cars are designed with so much down force that they could drive upside down if a track was designed to let them. As for painting any imperfection on the cars surface will cause drag (may be so minimal it may not matter) so when you paint graphics be sure to put a clear coat over it. And of course a good coat of wax.
