If you recently had a front, side or rear- end collision or even a small fender bender, you might have damaged any one of several impact sensors on the vehicle. (each vehicle's sensors vary by manufacture usually 2 but there might be more ) First i would have the light checked for the code in the computer. This can be done at any credible repair facility that has a OBD2 scanner, and then you will know the price range. ( price range for sensors and the computer depends on the year, make and model of the car.)
