Q:I just bought a 01 Volvo s60 and i got check engine light on it after one month it says emission system service required and when I went to the auto zone they told me that I need to change the fuel cap and I ordered an original one online and I released the check engine light but I got it again after a week; I use unleaded fuel instead of the required premium fuel, is that can be the reason for this check engine light?

you still could have a fault in the emission system/fuel tank leakage detection for fuel vapors. my guess is a cracked hose going from the charcoal filter to the control valve near it. the hose looks like a big J. the crack can be near the J portion, sometimes on the top, where you need a small mirror to find it, close to the clamp on the charcoal canister. it's a bother the replace the hose, but these things can happen.

Q:The change oil light came on as well as service engine light and I reset by turning key on and pressed excellorator 3 times but the service engine light stayed on.

Q:My ABS light is on constantly and the emergency brake light comes on every so often but does not stay on constantly. I scanned the code at Advanced Auto which came up as C1276 left front release valve solenoid malfunction. Does anyone have any clue what may be causing this? Thanks!

Conditions for Setting the DTC C1276 One of the following conditions exists: The EBCM detects that delivered torque signal is out of the valid range. The EBCM does not receive the delivered torque signal The following conditions can cause this concern: An open in the delivered torque circuit. An short to ground or voltage in the delivered torque circuit. A wiring problem, terminal corrosion, or poor connection in the delivered torque circuit. A communication frequency problem. A communication duty cycle problem. The EBCM is not receiving information from the PCM. Loose or corroded EBCM ground or PCM ground.

Hi, how are ya? I am an auto technician. I just wanted to give you some info on your problem. Depending on the vehicle, this code typically means the secondary air pump is not working, or more realistically, the computer does not THINK it is working. The air pump is an electric pump that supplies fresh air into the exhaust system to reduce emissions. There are several possibilities here that could be causing this. For example, the pump could be bad, the fuse for the pump can be blown, the electrical relay could be bad, the hoses from the pump to the exhaust could be broken or cracked, or a bad wiring connection anywhere in the circuit. My point is this. Your best bet is to get this addressed at a reputable repair shop, that specializes in drivability and diagnostics. Auto Zone may be good at some things, NONE of these is diagnosing cars!!! It is not likely the air filter itself could be causing this problem. The air filter is the part that catches the dirt in the air that is entering the engine. Some vehicles take the air for the air pump after the air filter so if the filter is plugged, or coming apart this may cause an issue, but that is doubtful. The filter should be replaced about every 15000 miles or so. Hopefully this gives you a better idea on what is going on. If you have anymore questions, just let me know. Good luck.

Q:My brake and battery lights came on yesterday afternoon. At first they were only on if I was accelerating but went off when I braked, now they stay on all the time. Also I have a really stong fluid smell but cant find a leak anywhere. It‘s smells like antifreeze but I checked all my hoses and there are no leaks on any of them. Last time this happened my car died two days later and needed a new starter. The starter was replaced in May and was brand new not used. Any ideas? Its a 91 Geo

Brake light usually indicates the parking brake is on or the brake fluid level is low. Assuming its not related to the parking brake, you need to add brake fluid. And you need to check it NOW. The Battery light usually indicates something is wrong with the charging system. With the age of this car, it could possibly be your alternator or even the fan belt. You should have this car looked at by a mechanic or by someone who knows about cars. And you need to do it NOW! Please, for your own safety as well as those around you.

well the stalling on a light or stop could be your fast idle east to fix. Now the pulling hard could be your alignment is out. and the check engine light could be alot of stuff fix the other problems first then take it in for the engine light.
