Wiring

To ensure proper system operation to maintain your warranty, observe the correct cable connection polarity(Figures 1&2) when connecting the modules to a battery or to other modules. If not connected correctly, the bypass diode could be destroyed.

PV modules can be wired in series to increase voltage. Connect wires from the positive terminal of one module to the negative of the next module. Figure shows modules connected in series .

Q:My husband is interested in buying solar panels for the roof and i dont know where to find them.
I co own Sunpower Solutions. We are a solar company in South Jersey. I can tell you that the average cost for a system under 7Kw, is $7.95 per watt. What people fail to realize, is that there is a lot more that goes into a PV system than just panels. Racking, hardware, combiner box, inverters, labor to put the panels up, pay the electrician that ties it all together, the architect that measures the wind load on the panels, etc. It's not cheap. Although, in the state of NJ, the the amount of time it takes for the system paying for itself, is 4 years. It doesn't matter if it's a huge system or the smallest PV system, it's 4 years. Any questions, just ask. @Martin: The thing with those programs, is that the company that is leasing the system, is taking advantage of the renewable energy credit that the system is producing. Yes you get cheap electricity, but you are not taking advantage of the money making ability of the renewable energy credits.
Q:want to add solar panels to manufactured home, and we get a lot of snow up here in the NW. Wondering if it would interfer with the roof load.
A single hexagonal solar panel weighs around 0 to 2 pounds (see link). A conventional silicon solar panel might weigh 40 pounds.
Q:I recently bought a house with very old solar panels (about 25 years old) that don't appear to work properly. They are supposed to heat the hot water heater but they don't always work, and recently have staretd leaking. So, I have had them turned off and now we're just using electricity to heat the hot water. My question is, is there any tax credit money (stimulus or otherwise) available for people to (a) repair old solar panels or (b) replace them with new ones? How does the credit work?
If you buy NEW solar panels, there is a credit. see the 040 icon at www.okorder
Q:Is this a good kit for building a solar panel?
i like Eric's answer. that is conceivable to construct your man or woman panels via wiring mutually man or woman photograph voltaic cells. that is an exciting element of do, yet isn't a thank you to save money. in view that such panels are unlawful to hook up with the grid, you could result making use of them with batteries, and paying extra for electrical energy than in simple terms paying for it from the electrical powered company. photograph voltaic can ultimately save money, yet to do this, you often spend the equivalent of five, 0, possibly 5 years of electric expenses up front, then have decreased or close to-0 expenses thereafter. once you're obtainable, truthfully look into installation extra insulation and weatherproofing on your place. you additionally can evaluate paying for and installation a photograph voltaic water heater.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on asphalt shingles?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on asphalt shingles. However, it is important to ensure that the shingles are in good condition and can support the weight of the panels. Proper installation techniques and mounting systems designed for asphalt shingles should be used to prevent any damage to the roof.
Q:Do solar panels require a battery for energy storage?
No, solar panels do not necessarily require a battery for energy storage. While batteries can be used to store excess energy generated by solar panels for later use, it is not a mandatory component. Solar panels can also directly feed the generated electricity into the grid or be used to power devices in real-time, without the need for a battery.
Q:Didnt solar panels use to cost around $250,000 5 years ago?
For just 5 years ago, certainly not! Perhaps you are thinking of 50 years ago, the kind that was put on the early communication satellites? 5 years ago, there was a glut of polysilicon, so modules were actually a little cheaper than today. Solar cell makers were basically using the scraps thrown away by chipmakers. But today, more silicon goes into making solar cells than computer chips, so that bonanza is gone. We will see prices going lower this year, possibly 20% from last year, because of improvements in technology, but also an increase in polysilicon supply, and a slowdown in demand due to worldwide recession. Later this year is a good time to buy panels, if you have the cash. The industry site below tracks module prices. They used to have more data, but I guess the old data rolls off the screen with time. If you want to see the details, they'll charge you for the report.
Q:i trying to make a solar panel. right now i dont have money to go and buy a copper sheet. so can i make it out of aluminum foil. if there is a way please tell me how. and what do i use for wires. i making this to charge batteries.
No but look in youtube for other ways of charging batteries . There is allot of neat ideas like building a small wind generator from scrap parts such as old speaker magnets copper wire out of transformers things that most people toss in the junk .
Q:Can solar panels be installed on a hospital or healthcare facility?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a hospital or healthcare facility. Installing solar panels on such facilities can help reduce carbon emissions and energy costs, while also providing a reliable and sustainable source of electricity. Additionally, the use of solar energy aligns with the healthcare industry's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and reducing the overall carbon footprint.
Q:How much would it cost (approximately) to convert my home (3 bed. 2 bath) to a green home that is run entirely upon solar panels on my roof? From the panels through installation does anyone know a price break down?
You will first need to know how much power you'll be using. Follow the link I left and it will take you to a page that has an Electrical Load Computation Worksheet. It's about the fifth one down on the page. After that, you'll be able to figure out what you need and what it will cost. The page link I left has other helpful articles, too.
