- Well to start off, Slipknot isn't remotely Death Metal They would fit under Nu Metal or Alternative Metal. Metallica is Thrash Metal/Heavy Metal/Hard Rock because the style they play. I have no idea what Linkin Park is since I don't listen to them. A band is considered by what they play and their sound. If they use growling vocals, distorted guitars, tremolo picking, blast beats, etc. then that would make them Death Metal. That goes to other sub-genres as well. Also, a lot of 'true' metalheads claim that Disturbed, BFMV, A7X, Slipknot, etc. aren't Metal because they're elitist c*nts. Don't hang around with those idiots.
