- Q:So like why does some light (I.e. A lightbulb, the sun, the moon, etc) shine and other forms of light like the light from my face or really everything else not shine?In other words why do you need a form of bright light to see other forms of light that do not shine?
- Your face, technically speaking, actually doesshine but shining is a subjective term. It's in the amount of light coming at you that determines whether or not you perceive it as so. A light bulb produces a large amount of light in a small area; the sun produces copious amount of it, and the moon reflects a sizable amount as well. Your face reflects only a relatively small amount of the ambient light so it doesn't appear as something shining.
- Q:There is red blue green white light what about clear
- Don't confuse clear with colorless. Clear is a description of clarity; colorless describes saturation. White light is a saturation of red, blue, and green light. No light (what you would think of as darkness) lacks all wavelengths. So technically, black is colorless. But light doesn't really fall into the clear or opaque categories.

- In the double-slit experiment light is shown to have wave-like properties. The presence of an interference pattern demonstrates that light can interact with itself in the same way that waves do. The wave-like nature of light is simply an observed fact - the experiment simply reveals this property. The interesting point is that even when only one photon is in the system, the interference pattern remains (although at greatly reduced brightness) which demonstrates that the wave-like nature of light persists even when only one quantum of light is present. - Actually, rather than thinking of them as absorbers of heat, darker colors are better absorbers of light and thereby become better radiators of heat. Consider the following: The color of an object depends on the wavelengths of colors reflected from the object. A red apple is red because red wavelengths in white light are reflected and other wavelengths are absorbed. In fact, if a red apple were to be illuminated by light that had no red wavelengths, the apple would appear almost black. When a black object is illuminated by white light, all wavelengths are absorbed and none are reflected -- that's why the object appears black. I learned this the hard way one dark night when I tried to use my flashlight locate a Black Angus steer that had escaped our pen. All I could see when I shined the light on the steer were two glowing eyes. Getting back to the point; when light is absorbed by a black object, the energy carried by the light doesn't just disappear. Rather, it raises the energy of the object doing the absorbing. The object, in turn, releases the absorbed energy by emitting longer wavelength, lower energy infrared (heat). This transformation of light into heat is the key to understanding the process because it accounts for the law of conservation of energy. Light just doesn't disappear when it strikes a black object -- it's transformed into another kind of radiation that is either radiated from or retained within the black object. The darker the object, the better its emission of heat because it is a better absorber of light.

- We don't know. Never been able to test it. Theory would say that the light from the beams would be traveling 2x the speed of light from a stationary position. Dumb it down a little bit. If an object is traveling 1m/s and you are walking 1m/s in the same direction, wouldn't you be traveling 2m/s from static? The interesting question is what happens if a car is moving at light speed and shines a light backwards, what happens to that light? Is it stationary? PS - Guy above has no imagination
- Q:if you put a mirror in front of a light bulb, will the amount of light double as if there were two light bulbs? why or why not?
- No because mirrors will only reflect light this is shown when you do a test on a white peice of paper in a dark room. if you reflect the light while on the paper you will see that it will dim on the paper after a short distance like it normally would without the mirror. therfore it only reflects light at the same strenght as it would be.

- The only green light near the record light is the play light which lights up when you are playing something recorded. It also lights up when you've paused something and start it playing.
- Q:Why do light colors reflect more light than darker colors?I already know that white absorbs less colors therefore reflects more and black, its the oppositeBut my teacher is asking WHY its like that? Why does it work that way? Anybody know?
- The darker a color is, the more black is mixed into the color. When you look a red apple, you see red because when light hits the apple, all the colors except for red get absorbed and only the red color is bounced back from the apple into your eyes. So you only see red coming from the apple. Black in essence is a color that does not reflect any light. So when you see something black you are not seeing any colored light bounce back from it; on the other hand white objects reflect all the colors back because white is a combination of all the colors of light. Dark colors then, since they have more black in them than white, will absorb more colors, and lighter colors, since they have white, will reflect more.
- Q:Are red light cameras snapping pictures althrough out the duration of a red light?
- they only take a picture if someone runs the light and sets off the sensor
