Try contacting local plastics companies. They can sell you scrap for close to nothing and sometimes they've just given things to me for free.

Q:I just bought a pickup truck, and it has this large 4'x8' plastic sheet in the back. Its about an inch thick, and weighs a LOT. It has nothing to do with a bed liner or anything. It seems to be extremely durable, from being in the back of a work truck for over 10 years its just got some scratches. Does anyone know what it could be used for? I want to try and sell it, but I have absolutely no idea what its purpose is, so I dont know how to even list it! One of my friends suggested it may be used for flooring or something, but i have no idea. I could see it being cut up and used for bench tops or something of that sort, but again, no clue. Any ideas?

It probably was used as a bed liner, the rest of us just use a sheet of plywood and this guy had access to the plastic sheeting, so used that instead

Q:i am working on an art project and I am wondering if there is a crafty type way for me to transfer the typed text from one sheet of paper to another (like to lift the ink off the paper somehow). It's called a photocopier. Photocopy the page onto a sheet of transparent plastic. Then lay the plastic over the new sheet where you want the letters to appear. If you don't want the plastic, the process is trickier. It still can be done. Photocopy the page onto plastic as before. Then lay the photocopied plastic sheet reversed on the photocopying glass. Copy onto a piece of paper. The result will be a sheet of paper with the letters reversed. Since photocopiers use toner that is baked onto the page, you need to take the sheet with reverse lettering and iron (using a hot iron) the reversed lettering onto the page you want it to appear. Since you are reversing a reversal, the result will be correct left-to-right. It might take several tries to get the technique down right, but it is do-able. Whether it is worth it, you'll have to determine.

Q:I am trying to fugure out how to create a flexable seem out of a sheet of plastic. For example if you had a 12x12 sheet of plastic 1/16 thick and you wanted to fold it in half to create two 6x12 flaps. How would you create a seem at the fold that could be easly folded and unfolded repeatedly for a long duration?

You could do this with a living hinge. Co-extrude the plastic profile with rigid plastic connected with the flexible plastic living hinge. Long duration needs to defined.
