- get the the 3570k, its not much more expensive than the 2500k but is better by about 20%. it also uses less power consumption. There is only one drawback to the new ivy bridge cpu's in that it runs extremely hot and therefore does not overclock as high as sandy bridge. However a 4.8ghz clock speed is easily achievable with a water cooling and with a decent air cooler about 4.5ghz. however ivy bridge even though it doesnt overclock as much its still about 20% faster. As in reference to your question, the 3570k will be about 40-50% better than the fx-8 core cpu in gaming and every other aspect! however i recommend that you get a good z77 motherboard with it e.g. gigabyte ud5h or asus gene.
