- Q:Both fireworks and light bulbs give off light. But, why do fireworks and light bulbs give off different color light?
- Because fireworks contains various chemicals that give off different colors of light when ignited. Because tungsten is heated in a vacuum using direct electricity, and doesn't involve an oxidation reaction (most if not all fireworks involve oxidation) it gives off white light.

- actually ultra violet covers the electromagnetic spectrum just before visible light i.e., it has higher frequency than visible light,human eye is not sensitive to this frequency range hence can't saw the color but some part of the uv comes into visible light range(violet color frequency) this is the frequency used in uv bulbs to detect things not visible in visible light,like crime scene investigation...

- Actually, rather than thinking of them as absorbers of heat, darker colors are better absorbers of light and thereby become better radiators of heat. Consider the following: The color of an object depends on the wavelengths of colors reflected from the object. A red apple is red because red wavelengths in white light are reflected and other wavelengths are absorbed. In fact, if a red apple were to be illuminated by light that had no red wavelengths, the apple would appear almost black. When a black object is illuminated by white light, all wavelengths are absorbed and none are reflected -- that's why the object appears black. I learned this the hard way one dark night when I tried to use my flashlight locate a Black Angus steer that had escaped our pen. All I could see when I shined the light on the steer were two glowing eyes. Getting back to the point; when light is absorbed by a black object, the energy carried by the light doesn't just disappear. Rather, it raises the energy of the object doing the absorbing. The object, in turn, releases the absorbed energy by emitting longer wavelength, lower energy infrared (heat). This transformation of light into heat is the key to understanding the process because it accounts for the law of conservation of energy. Light just doesn't disappear when it strikes a black object -- it's transformed into another kind of radiation that is either radiated from or retained within the black object. The darker the object, the better its emission of heat because it is a better absorber of light.

- Generally, the higher the light intensity, the faster the rate of photosynthesis. However there will come a point when further increases in the light intensity will have no effect on the rate of photosynthesis, because the rate is now limited by another factor, for example carbon dioxide concentration.

- Dome lights are usually centered overhead in the interior or towards the rear of the interior IF there are also overhead lights at the front, usually all will illuminate when a door is opened. Map lights used to be found under dash but are now found overhead at the front of the car and usually operated by a PUSH ON-PUSH OFF switch located in the light itself.

- You need to use Fluorescent type bulbs. You probably can get two or three compact fluorescent types.

- Q:I was wondering if I had to get a grow light for my plants or could I just use a regular florescent light bulb or something like that? If not, what is the difference in the light bulbs?
- A regular forescent light bulb will work fine. Last winter I bought a 4 ft long hanging shop light for $9 at Home Depot. Started all my garden seedlings under the light and they grew very well. The hanging shop light has a chain on each end at the top, so you can hang it under a cabinet or shelf by screwing small hooks (cup hooks) into the bottom of the cabinet or shelf, and hooking the chains onto them. . You can raise the light as your plants go by raising the 2 chains, When the seedlings are big enough to go outside, you just unhook the chains, take the light down, remove the small hooks from the underside of your cabinet and store the light in the basement or attic or wherever until next year.,
