Next test was a magnet. I would say it picked up about 50%+ of the sample, with quite a few large beads of iron. Any suggestions of what to do next as far as testing and sampling?: Magnetite often accompanies gold in alluvial stream sediments. My suggestion is that you locate several suitable locations; digging down to the base of stream-bed (or as far down as you can go) on the inner part of stream bends. Then, you take these samples wash the samples in a prospecting pan. Larger yields of magnetite will probably be accompanied by larger gold values because they are both heavy minerals which will remain when lighter minerals have been winnowed away
