What's the healing time? :) thank you for any feed back.: Most piercings need 6 months to fully heal. Industrial will take up to a year to do so. You have to keep the jewelry in and do not take it out ( not even once ) for the whole period of 1 year. This means that you can't hide it for school. You can't put a retainer on also, cause only titanium or stainless steel material are proper for an open wound aka a new piercing. This piercing is not easy to heal and can stay irritated for long. It goes through cartilage and you have to be really careful with the aftercare and the piercer's info if you want to keep the piercing and yourself healthy. You have to be careful and not touch it or play with it and twist it or take it out. You clean this piercing with sea salt soaks or non alcohol antibacterial soap 2-3 times a day. You dry it with paper towels. If you can do the above daily and be extra careful go get it done. Gluck

Normally these materials are marked with there Alloy number or designation like, 6061- T6, at certain intervals so that users can distinguish them.

Q:Okay, quick question. I dropped into a couple of piercing studios yesterday to inquire about getting a scaffold done. Both places informed me that it's not a good idea to have it pierced with a bar straight off, as the pressure from the jewellery combined with the swelling when first pierced can seriously slow down the healing rate. Is this true? The second place said they will pierce both holes with rings, and these can be changed to a bar after around 6 to 8 weeks.Is this the best option? What I do is I pour it onto a little bit of loo roll and squeeze it all out on where the holes are. I have not been twisting it at all, but my friend told me that I should soak it in warm salty water and twist it twice a day. I have no idea what to do now as I have researched it and some people say that I shouldn't twist it because it will drag more bacteria into it and could get it infected. Also I have massive scabs around both ends of the bar, I've tried to pick them off as they are pretty uncomfortable, but it didn't work as they are rock solid, so how do I get these off? I have no idea what to do, my piercer didn't say anything about twisting it just cleaning it twice a day. Oh and if it helps I'm 13:) Thanks. X: Why are you using Claire's crap? You need to be doing sea salt soaks twice a day for 5-10 minutes each soak with 1/4th of a teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt to 8oz of hot water. Don't twist them as that drags in crust and bacteria and tears up the inside of the piercing. Stop trying to pick stuff off from your ear and go have a reputable piercer check out the scabbing, it could be crust it could be something wrong. If your piercer didn't tell you to do sea salt soaks to keep it clean go to a better piercer.
