FAQ

Is it best to go for a more powerful vacuum cleaner?

The power of a vacuum cleaner’s motor is measured in Watts. The higher the Wattage the better it will clean, as long as the machine is well designed with good air flow and suction power too. However, the higher the wattage, the noisier the machine will be. With upright vacuum cleaners. you don’t need to have so much wattage or suction power as you do with a cylinder cleaner as the dirt has less distance to travel before it reaches the bag or dust container. The type of brushes are more of an important consideration with uprights than the power. You don’t always want to have a vacuum cleaner operating at full power for example, when cleaning upholstery or curtains, so it’s useful to be able to adjust the power level yourself.

Which attachments should I look out for?

Most vacuum cleaners come with three attachments, a crevice tool, upholstery and dusting brushes and a small head which is best for vacuuming stairs. You can also get additional turbo brushes which have their own motor for extra suction which are useful for cleaning deep-pile carpets or a power cleaning head which has electrically powered rotating brushes. A hard-floor or parquet brush is useful for wooden or tiled floors. Some cleaners have extendable tubes which are useful for hard to reach areas like cobwebs in the corners of ceilings.

I have a large house? What should I look out for?

Look for a cleaner with a large cleaning head – this will help cut down the amount of time it takes to vacuum a room. Also get as long a lead as you can get to cut down on the number of times you have to unplug the lead and plug it in again. You may also want to consider getting a model with a large capacity dust collector or bag so that you don’t have to empty it as frequently. If you have a lot of stairs, you may want to get a cylinder model with a long stretchy stair-cleaning hose.

Q:how did they clean carpets before there were vacuum cleaners?
you would hang them on a clothes line and beat all the dust out
Q:For a school project, I need to know the most common and annoying problems that you people are facing with vacuum cleaners. Try to be creative and just write whatever comes to your mind. Thanks ppl :D
Stuff will get stuck in the belt of the vacuum which makes the vacuum have a burning smell.
Q:where can i buy a kirby vacuum cleaner for really cheep price?
Search google yahoo, Bing
Q:My current vacuum broke and I need to get a new one. Where could I get a good vacuum at that is not too much money? I do not want to spend more then $80 and I live in Denver, CO.
If okorder and on E-Pinions. Below is the link to the vacuum at Wal-Mart and the review on E-Pinions. Happy Vacuuming!
Q:I am searching for low price vacuum cleaners that do a very good job of picking up stuff and don't wear out easily. Do you know any good vacuum cleaners under $70. The lower the price is the better.
love the roomba but its not that cheep unless you look and get lucky on OKorder
Q:I should also add that I need a vacuum cleaner that has strong suction and is good for picking up cat hair.
I have a couple of Oreck vacuum cleaners. They have disposable bags. They are powerful and light weight. You need the Oreck hand vacuum that goes with the upright Oreck as there is no hose on the main unit. Oreck has a small vacuum with all the hose attachments and it also has a disposable bag. Very handy for doing stairs. I've had mine for about eight years with no problems at all.
Q:Can anyone/everyone help me in knowing what to buy as far as vacuum cleaners go?? I am in desperate need to replace the piece of crap that I currently have and are having a heck of a time doing it, for there are oh I don't know millions of them!!! I have a cat, 2 adults 3 kids so I definitely live in a High Traffic Household. Also I need one that comes with a hose (not just the floor sucking kind) and lots of attachments cause I like to go against the wall where the kids get dirt in the corners and the cat gets cat litter. I need as much feedback as I can get as to what I can buy. I would LOVE a Dyson, but I don't have a $1000.00 to spend and more like $200.00 (or less). PLEASE HELP!!!
Think of a vacuum cleaner as an investment, not a disposable which is mostly what you get for $200 or less. Would you rather spend more right now for something that really works for you and not have to buy a vacuum again for 10 years or more, or spend $200 now and have to spend it again every couple of years, and in the meantime not having one that does what you need? I have a Filter Queen that I bought used in 1988 for $500. It's had a couple of tune-ups in that time but still works as well as the day I bought it. I also have one called a Ghibli, which is a little more like a shop vac but very quiet and miles better than your basic Sears shop vac(I bought one of those first and it was such a piece of garbage that I returned it), and I'd recommend it highly. Lots of suction, and the quietness is wonderful. Stay away from uprights. They're okay for carpet, difficult to use for much else. A canister type does much more, better and easier. Go to a store that sells and repairs vacuums. They often have used top-of-the -line stuff for good prices. They know the products the way someone in Wal-Mart never can so they can help you choose something that works for you. Christmas is coming. Maybe you can say a good vacuum cleaner is your Christmas present. Not as fun as jewellery maybe but every time you use it you'll be glad you spent the money.
Q:I have a 1,200 square foot house and a dog that sheds a lot. I used the Swivel Sweeper 360 G2, and it sucks! I used it on rugs and my hardwood floors. I have hardwood floors throughout my house and some rugs in some of the rooms. I know attachments would help for the small areas like under the desks and TV stand. I need to find a good vacuum to buy and use for my house. I have no ides what is the best for my needs, there are so many to choose from. Please any advice would be very helpful!!!
My floors are similar to yours. I bought a Dyson when I have carpet in all rooms and now that I in the living area, carpets in the bedrooms and some mats the Dyson still does an excellent job.wood. One trick I use on the wood floors is something my g'mother and mother did. They lived in duty parts of the country and vacuum cleaners were very basic. They would soak a large rag/towel with kerosene, roll it up and leave it for a few days to let the kerosene soak in well. They then would sweep the floors with ths cloth under the broom. Kerosene is slightly oily and the cloth held onto the dust. I do the same thing but use a floor mop instead of a rag prior to vacuuming. I am able to get into corners and dust the skirting boards at the same time.
Q:I'm really confused i have a dry vaccum cleaner there is filters inside to protect the dirt entering in to the motor , so i'm thinking of a wet so how this work when water enters the motor does it damage? or it is working like a water pump? if so how the suction all work ?
Shop Vac type vacuum cleaners are made to suck dry or wet, the filter is modified manually for either dry or wet vacumming. All you need to know is that they work. Have owned several over the years.
Q:best multiple wet and dry commercial vacuum cleaner in the world?
