Q:Way back in the day I had a few friends who had a system hooked up in their car that was really kewl and my nephew and I would like to get our hands on it. They had lights hooked up in the interior, floor boards, dash, etc.... Only the brightness of the lights depended on the loudness of the stereo. And no, they didn't dim when the bass hit, the lights were hooked up so that the lights brightened. I'm trying to find this setup now, but no matter how I search, the facts I know aren't leading me to the product. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and what the setup would be called please let me know so that we can figure out the price and see if its something we can do! Thanx!

you can do it yourself, buy the neon light that turns on with the music (costs about 25 bux and you can usually fint them in AutoZone) and hooks up to the lighter in your car, cut off the neon that came with it and wire (positive with positive and negative with negative) whatever neon lights you want to the adapter that goes inside the lighter and there you go

Q:I bought a used 1999 Crown victoria from a dealership. it came with the blinking LED auto theft light, but it doesn't seem to work. does anyone know how i can get it to work? or where can i take it to get it re installed and get it back working again?

The light only blinks when the car is off. Wondering if maybe the anti-theft chip in the key system has been hacked, because the LED won't burn-out, there's no fuse or relay in the circuit to go bad. I have the wiring manual for my '02 Grand Marquis, which is basically the same car....Let me see where the blinker circuit goes ...

Dear Kayla. The auto-adjust option on the LCD monitor will load some pre-configured setting put into the system in the factory. These are set believing you have good eyesight, good lighting in the room and are not colorblind. It also sets the monitor up to run at the fastest recommended refresh rate. You should set the brightness/contrast to what feels comfortable to you without having the monitor lit up too high. The only thing that damages a monitor very fast is 'over-driving' brightness controls. So the lower the brightness the better for both of you. Just bring up the brightness until you are comfortable and adjust the color/contrast settings to get the best match to a picture you have both in the computer and printed on hand. Try to adjust the monitor controls until the picture tones get very close to each other. Very few monitors can do this without being 'over-driven' so be careful to set any control to full or null applications.

Q:Ok so I was driving and out of nowhere my engine light comes on and when I would complete a stop on a light my car would shake. It also kinda wanted to turn off on me but it didn‘t. And when I was in a stop and then accelerated my car would take out white smoke out of the exhaust. Also when I would try to accelerate it would have trouble accelerating it didn‘t want to go. First best answer to StPaulGuy. Guessing will not get you any closer to fixing the problem, getting the codes read will. A mechanic should do it and he should be the one to fix it. Parts stores can cost you a lot with missing the mark on diagnosing based on the codes. I disagree about the head gasket - I have never heard of a head gasket failing out of nowhere (as you described it) and the symptoms are not a good match. For a sanity check, check the coolant level. If it is way, way down it could indeed be a major problem with the engine rather than the controls. If it is not missing a lot of coolant it is not a bad head gasket causing the problems, I guarantee.

Q:I went to auto zone and they hooked my car up to their little machine to figure out why my check engine light is on. This is what I found out.My catalytic converter is defective because I might have these problems:Engine misfire or running condition.Large vaccuum leak.Engine oil leakage into exhaust valve guide seals, piston rings.Can anyone give me a simple explanation of what that means? I have a 1998 Ford Escort wagon. Anyone know how much that will cost to fix?

There is no indication of a defective cat. You could have a misfire but the codes aren't provided so it's hard to say. a large vacuum leak would seriously affect your engine. It would be running rough and stalling at idle. There is no way an oil leak can be detected with the little machine. Whoever told you this is preparing to rip you off with repairs that are not needed. I would try elsewhere to get the codes read. Post the codes here and maybe get some help.

Q:When I use my automatic start, all the lights turn on, dash, tail and all (its supposed to be that way) but once I reset the auto start (by pressing on the brake) the dash lights shut off and the tail lights also shut off.If I put the car in park and set the lights to day time running, the dash board lights come back on, AND the tail lights?Have any ideas whats going on??

The instrument panel lights and tail lights are both part of the same electrical circuit. When your automatic start system was installed, the installer probably tapped into your taillight circuit for a hot lead. It is probable that something in your automatic start system is shorting out the power source for your instrument panel tail lights, causing them to fail. Have a competent mechanic check out your wiring.
