- Q: I prefer metal :)
- bands who came before, and influenced, the first wave of heavy metal, but were themselves, NOT metal.
- Q: i think it was a good addition to metal, but others don't seem to agree.
- i hear yea about the nu metal Demons and wizards - power, Fairyland - epic metal, Gravedigger - thrash metal, Therion - classical/opera metal,
- Q: What are the differences between black, trash and heavy metals? And are there any other metals?
- That's really silly. I don't know where you live but I see black metal and punk fans all the time. Just go out to a regular metal show and look around. I know punk and metal are not the same thing, but I just saw two different punk bands with black lead singers LAST WEEK. Last night I was talking to a half-black girl with a green 'fro at an industrial show. Just like there are white hip hop fans. It's 2012...this really isn't that uncommon anymore. As noted by the person who mentioned Living Colour (they did that song Cult of Personality), it's never really been that uncommon. Slash, from Guns and Roses is half-black. There have been black punks since the beginning of punk. There are black goths (or perhaps I should say goth-inspired, in their case), like the singer for O Children...plenty of examples. Also, black people in my neighborhood who aren't metal fans AT ALL come over to our house all the time, even if we're really rocking out loud. I don't know if it's just because my town is a college town, but everyone's pretty cool about blending music scenes. I certainly have listened to more underground rap in the past couple of years than I ever have before. Besides, does it really matter? It's about music, after all, not race...I mean, unless you accidentally end up at a white pride metal show...try not to do that. :(

- In chemistry, the term base metal is used informally to refer to a metal that oxidizes or corrodes relatively easily, and reacts variably with diluted hydrochloric acid (HCl) to form hydrogen. Examples include iron, nickel, lead and zinc. Copper is considered a base metal as it oxidizes relatively easily, although it does not react with HCl. Base is used in the sense of low-born, in opposition to noble or precious metal[1]. In alchemy, a base metal was a common and inexpensive metal, as opposed to precious metals, mainly gold and silver. A long-time goal of the alchemists was the transmutation of base metal into precious metal. In numismatics, coins used to derive their value primarily from the precious metal content. Most modern currencies are fiat currency, allowing the coins to be made of base metal.[citation needed] In mining and economics, base metals refers to industrial non-ferrous metals excluding precious metals. These include copper, lead, nickel and zinc.[2] The U.S. Customs and Border Protection is more inclusive in its definition. It includes, in addition to the four above, iron and steel, aluminium, tin, tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, magnesium, cobalt, bismuth, cadmium, titanium, zirconium, antimony, manganese, beryllium, chromium, germanium, vanadium, gallium, hafnium, indium, niobium, rhenium and thallium.[3]
- Q: self explanatory question, electric guitar, Ibanez rg370dx, is it good for playing heavy metal on?
- It depends on basic knowledge you study on the lesson about the periodic table. IN GROUP 1 elements as you go down the elements the reactivity of the element increases. Example: Lithium (Li) is less reactive but Francium is highly reactive. So, study about the periodic table then you can identify metal reactivity.

- There's a really fun documentary about this very topic. I watched it on VH1 once. The guy breaks it down into years/sub-genres of metal and the bands involved. I hope the one I'm linking you to is the right one. Really, the movie is a lot of fun.
