Q:I'm working on decorating my apartment bit by bit and I've come to where I want to get a living room rug. The room is about 12x15ft so everything is rather close together. All the walls are beige/off-white and so is the couch in the middle of the room. Each of the pieces of furniture (desk, side table, coffee table, tv stand) are a dark wood, and so is the wood floor, and the main color accents in the room are red, orange, yellow, olive green, and blue-green, with some colorful art I've been making for the walls. Basically, every color that has red or yellow in it.
Red is pretty. I'd shoot for a company going out of business, can get a 3k persian rug for $150 in some places. - I live in Illinois, 23, think and spend wisely -- but, look good. :)
Q:i have a bill for homes and gardens and id like to pay it on line. how do i do that?
Go okorder and follow instructions for paying online. You will have to open an account with them.
Q:What are the decorating trends this year/or season for a home? What room scents are the most popular, candles, incense, etc. What flowers are popular for Fall and Winter(store bought of course)? What colors are in as far as wall color and general room color of the furniture to the decorations? I am oblivious when it comes to designing and decorating I could use a little bit of help please. Thanks! =)
Freaks who invent 'trends' don't have to live in your house. Design it to how you like it, to hell with anyone else
Q:I live downstairs and I sub lease the 2nd floor which has no thermostat. 74 degrees is too hot for me...but any lower and tenant will complain of cold. Heat rises but upstairs is colder. I've tried a few tactics such as closing my vents and lowering the temperature slightly hoping for 5% more of total heat for upstairs. Still cold for her ! Any suggestions for a penny pincher with moderate handyman skills ?
You can add in a few hot air runs if it is easy enough, OR get an inline fan to go into a pipe or 2 going upstairs. Try completely closing ALL your heat vents, as there will be small cracks the heat will go through, and make sure the upstairs is completely opened. Also, running the fan on the furnace constantly promotes better circulation, and granted you have adequate return airs in the house, it will pull the heat down from the ceiling and circulate warm air throughout.
Q:I see many of my friends and neighbors with their home gardens, and somedays it seems to me that they are not really saving much? But maybe there is something I am missing. Do you think home gardens are really worth all the time, energy and expense?
In this day and age it is not so much about saving but enjoying gardening. It is mostly a hobby among those of us that like being outside and making things grow. Smelling the air, hearing the birds sing, seeing butterflies flutter by. If you do not enjoy digging in the soil and pulling up weeds then you should choose another type of hobby.
Q:I have a mostly brick house, more red, fenced in back yard and am wanting to do a border of Perennial plants around my home. Wondering if this is a good idea, I don't know much about planting, gardening or anything of that sort. We have brick steps centered in the front and I want to go at an angle and leave gaps on either side of the steps to be able to plant some flowers or something. I would love some thoughts and opinions on all of this, seeing as I have no clue. I want to make sure all plants I use are safe for children and animals, I have 4 children, 3 of which are under the age of 5. Thank you for your time and help!Oh, any websites that you use personally or know would be helpful to me feel free to supply them =) I have had the hardest time finding anything helpful. Thanks!
Hello. Perennial garden are a great way to make your home look great with little work. Depending where you live ( I live in zone 5) Most perennials here grow through out the summer and then just get cut back in the fall when they are done. There are many poisonous perennials. The easiest way to find a list of these is to just type in poisonous perennials into your computer search engine and you will get many lists of them. Just print that out and bring it to your garden center and they will walk you through the choices of non poisonous perennials. I work at a garden center and its very common for non gardeners to come in and ask for help. So don't be intimidated. The most important thing to do is to watch and see what kind of light these spots get that you want to plant in. lots of shade, full sun, morning sun-afternoon shade, or vice versa. Thats going to be the first question asked. Then decide what colors you like and how tall you want the perennials to be, Some get 4 feet tall, some stay at ground level. Your local garden shop employee will be able to help you with no problem. So good luck and congratulations on deciding to beautify your home. Gardening is a lot of fun!!
Q:whats the value of a 1945 home and garden magazine?
Not much...entertainment/curiosity value only. I've got old Ladies Home Journals circa 1895 I got for a buck about 20 years ago. . Fun reading but really not worth much, about 5 bucks ea, maybe. I like them for their 'advertizements.
Q:i would like to have an herb garden but don't know what time a year is best for them in Colorado....and how to start them.
Well, are you planning on an indoor or outdoor garden? based on what I read, (1st link, it's a little outdated) it certainly looks like herb gardening in Colorado can be pretty hard. But you can always try, you know. Just be patient! And from an experienced gardener to a newbie, I think you should try the Indoor type first. Start with something simple. You could try basil. You can grow it inside and just make sure it gets sunlight a lot (not a problem in Colorado, right?) and just read and read and read about indoor gardening. Herb gardening can be tough at first. So I suggest getting a book or something. check this one, it's the first book I bought. check the 2nd link below they have some very good articles and the book is pretty cheap, just $14 something.
Q:We're selling our house and the house inspector suggested GFI;s in the kitchen. It's a 50 year-old house. Can you put GFI's on a 2 wire electrical system?
Your chilly water pipe isn't GROUNDED it fairly is BONDED. in case you do not comprehend the version you shouldn't be doing any electric powered artwork. however if it replaced into grounded( which may well be a risk something grounded incorporates electric powered modern under usually operation) is might have not something to do with the merchants on your place. you basically would desire to run a sparkling cable(14-2 w ith floor or 12-2 with floor) from you panel to the opening and thoroughly re-feed it with a sparkling circuit with a sparkling GROUNDING conductor in it. including a grounding twine to a circuit wth out a grounding conductor isn't code and is risky. FIY grounded and grounding are very different. A plug with 2 hollow in it has a grounded twine yet would not have a grounding twine. Ungrounded twine= black= warm grounded twine= white= independent grounding twine=bare or green= kit grounding conductor bonding jumper= vast *** twine run to chilly water pipe in dwelling house(not in contact with merchants) all of the different solutions ARE incorrect MISINFORMED and intensely risky PLEASE call AN ELECTRICIAN THIS interest must be approximately $one hundred twenty five TO RUN a sparkling CIRCUT TO television. IF the folk IN YOU area cost $60 in line with hr. interest ought to take properly under 2 hours for one guy
Q:RIP chloe
It means your dog was put down and there was a raven in your garden......
