- Q: STREET LEGAL Head Lights
- The inexpensive blue halogen lights cost little more than standard halogen lights. They don't put out as much light in standard wattages, so may be illegal.HID lights are also often blue, and they also produce less light when ordered in blue color. HID are more efficient than halogen per watt input. However, the newest cars use LED headlights, even more efficient. The main problem is that HID lights should have cut-off upper optical pattern to prevent blinding oncoming drivers. So those HID retrofit kits could make your car illegal. New cars have the optics and are DOT approved.

If you use it regularly, they're probably about the same.
