Actually a touch more than other farmers with similar operations. As others have pointed out they use the same tillage, planting, and harvesting equipment, that's usually the same size. Where I say they will use more is in weed control. Organic farms are not allowed to use chemical weed controls (I believe there's a few exceptions if it's a natural chemical such as vinegar, or a bacterial based spray, etc). So most of them will go with mechanical weed control, typically cultivation. Even if the number of passes taken with the cultivator is equal to what would be needed with a sprayer (not always the case), it will burn more fuel to cultivate due to the resistance of dragging a machine through the soil vs rolling on top of it. In the end the machinery use among similar crops between organic and conventional will be similar, with the organic guy likely doing a little more in this department, and likely burning a little more fuel in the process.

1. Bearings - you need to reduce the heat so you lubricate with oil. 2. Shaft holders - heat again and oil again - usually one of the materials is softer than the other so it wears quicker, usually the cheaper of the two materials. Sometimes the parts are coated to reduce friction.

Q:I ve been going to school for HVAC for about a month now. And I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on reading schematics or wiring the machinery up. ( besides make sure the power is off) Each day I get it a little more but I was just wondering if any experts had some tips. Also how is the pay when you get out of school? make friends with some one in the drafting department. part of drafting is drawing electrical drawings. a good hvac man with some experience can write his own ticket in any town. be patient......you wont get to the top in a week....it takes time. Possum, hvac guy

Do isometric sketches. It's what I do. Lets you get a feel for what you are designing.

Yeah they can. Machinery's predominantly designed my mechanical engineers, but it's not uncommon for a chemical engineer to do it too, or do aspects of the overall design.
