Tomorrow I will be attempting to cook a grilled cheese in my dorm room using an iron as the source of heatHowever, I'm in a bit of a pickle as I seem to have forgotten to get aluminum foil at WalmartI need a substitute that I can wrap around the sandwich and place the heated iron on without it burning down my dorm or sticking to the iron, but also be thin enough to let heat through to the bread and cheese comboThe items that I have that I have considered using are as follows: -An empty Triscuit box-An empty Chex Mix bag-Paper plates-3x5 notecards-Printer paper-Paper folders-Hallmark greeting cardsThings I don't have-Aluminum foil-Parchment paper-Wax paper-Soda cans-Street signsThank you in advance for your help.
This is a dumb ideaIf you have a toaster (or if you don't they're like $5) and a microwave you can make a very good grilled cheeseToast the slices of bread, butter on the inside sides, place cheese (and onions, pickles, etc, too if you like) then microwave the sandwich until the cheese meltsGreat grilled cheese, no fire hazards needed.
What would be the best:to weld a bike frame to a trike chassis (same metal)orto build a new frame entirely (including the more complex bits such as the pedal axle and handlebar tube)?Any advise on welding the pedal axle hub thing from an old bike to a newly built frame?
If you are using an aluminum bike frame as a basis do NOT weld anything onto itIf you are using a steel frame then you MIGHT be able to convert itbut there is no way 3 adults will be able to ride itno more than 3 adults could ride the bike in its original formYou are trying to do something that takes some significant knowledge in engineering and some very fancy fabricating (machining) workI am a master builder, have built trikes before and it is definitely not for those who don't have an intimate understanding of making fabrications with thin walled tubing with a good dose of structural engineering whether it be through school or experienceIt is also important to get your terminology correctThe pedal axle is the bottom bracket (which comes in a variety of sizes that you'll have to determine) and the handlebar tube is either the fork steerer or the head tube (I can't decide which one you mean)There is also the seat tube (which has to be reamed for a particular size) as well as close attention paid to the head tube angle, the bottom bracket drop, and the chainline among dozens of other detailsAll the bits you need- including tubing- are generally available from various specialist shops onlineDo NOT use the pedal axle thing from an old bike for a new frameIf you want to look at a couple of custom trike frames, consider searching for Bob Jackson Cycles in Leeds England, and I think Mel Pinto Imports still has one lying around.
Where can I get aluminum mesh?
u can get it at most parts stores it will b in the performance section.but all it is is painted steel mesh not aluminum .and u can buy it unpainted for lots cheaper at a hardware store in the concrete/masonry section.say 30 bucks at the parts store for a 12inch by 3 ft piece.and 6 bucks for a 2 foot by 8 ft piece at the hardware store.ive done this on a few different vehicles now and i use the hardware store piece since its the same and cheaper + u can cut odd shaped and longer pieces for say replacing the entire grill not just the insertand as far as painting it just standard spray paint works fine or u can color match it to ur cars paint.good luck
Scrapbooking help with terminology?
You could use almost anythingOne time I seen Tommy Chong used a wrapper from a D.V.D.
Hi, we are trying to do a special project using a sheet of cut aluminum flashing attached to the bottom of our gate so the dog can't see out as easilyWe made the cuts and are about to spray paint but have found the edges (especially the cut ones) to be very sharp and have both gotten bad paper-like cutsAny ideas how to protect the exposed edge so no one gets hurt?My first thought was a report sleave - like the ones i used to put my book reports in.
You need to dull the sharp edgesTry dragging the edge of some leftover flashing down the length of your installationIf that doesn't work try 000 steel wool or doubled up sandpaper (fine) along the sharp edge.
