- Cadmium Sulphite light sensors are a sub type type of Light Dependent Resistor. There's bound to be other materials that get used in LDRs with their own quirks/specifications. So how they are used will be the same,but circuits will need to cope with difference in component parameters. eg take the fairly standard is it dark circuit that uses an LDR as one leg of a voltage divider, and uses an op-amp to compares the output of that potential divider to a reference voltage. if the parameters of the LDR change, the fixed resistor (on the voltage divider), and/or reference voltage needs changed. Same would happen if you change to a larger or smaller LDR. NB photovoltaic sensors *are* different.
