Q:how do you calculate the start up current on a 3 phase ac motor?
Look for the motor Type listed on the nameplate. Each US motor type has a corresponding locked rotor KVA in the National Electric code. Starting current = locked rotor KVA/voltage.
Q:New AC to DC idea, but will it work?
Yes, it will work, but it's not nearly as efficient as the traditional method of a bridge rectfier and capacitor bank. The AC motor will not be more than 90% efficient, and the DC generator will not be more than 90% efficient, so the whole assembly will not be more than 81% efficient. The bridge rectifier/cap bank will easily be more than 95% efficient.
Q:What are the classifications of AC motors?
According to the principle of AC motor can be divided into synchronous and asynchronous motor two categories, there are strict correspondence between the rotating speed and the AC synchronous motor frequency, speed in operation strictly constant; asynchronous motor speed with the change of the load change slightly.
Q:if a 3 phase motor is rated at 100 amps how many amps is that per phase?
3 phase AC motors are rated in *amps per phase*, NOT total current. Do NOT divide by 3. It's 100A for each.
Q:Why doesn't an ac motor need a commutator?
I guess the answer is sometimes. I forgot about the universal motor the answer is right there induction motors, the largest group of ac motors do not need commutators. depending on whether they have wound or squirrel cage rotors, they may not even need slip rings.
Q:please tell me how can i repair AC motor.?
Your mixer motor is just getting old and worn out. My best advice for you is to get another mixer. The copper winding have deterioated over the years and the coating over the wires has burnt off and is starting to short the motor out. The is no economical fix for this unless you completely rewind the motor. Have a big wallet ready because it will cost more than a new one.
Q:What were people doing (using) before the invention of the AC induction motor?
First answer got it in the wrong order... Human power, then animals, then water, then wind, then steam. Internal combustion engines came along about the same time as electric motors (the earliest automobile designs came in 3 flavors: powered by steam engine, electric motor, and gasoline engines). Of course you asked specifically about AC induction motors (which came after DC motors), you will have to check the history books yourself for this level of detail.
Q:how do i know if it's AC or DC current?
Input is AC, output is DC
Q:How do I know whether the motor is a direct current motor or an AC motor?
Generally larger motors are ACThey also have nameplates,If you have a strong practical ability, you can open it and have a lookMost of the passengers with magnet are DC motorsA small motor, some also have a magnet, but the armature is a magnet, stator coilAC motors generally do not have magnets, and stators and rotors are coils
That is not going to work. It sounds like an induction motor. The speed is controlled by the frequency of the supply. To get a speed less than 1/10 of normal, you would need to generate a frequency less than 5 Hz. If you did that, the efficiency of the motor would be horrible. Even if you managed with that, you would still have problems. Most A.C. single phase motors rated at more than a few tens of watts use a 'centrifugal switch' to disconnect the starting windings when the motor is running. It certainly would not operate at that speed. Your motor would cook. Sorry.
