Q:How to calculate AC motor efficiency at no load?
Naresh, With the motor on no load, none of the energy being consumed by the motor is being gainfully used, so the efficiency must be zero. You should also remember that with a motor on no load, the power factor is very low.
Q:I want to use the motor from an old lawn edger, which has to be plugged into a wall to work, for a small battery powered skateboard for my son being powered by a car battery. Is this possible without havng to buy a hundred dollar power convertor...can I splice the wires and hook them up directly to a car battery?
You need to check the voltage of the motor first. If it has an input voltage of 50v then 12 volts may not be enough. and although it may spin, it would not have the power to spin under load. I would also imagine that the motor would have to be geared in some way. If you were going to go down that road then I would suggest using a starter motor from a car or something similar.
Q:will a brushless dc motor work underwater if you just varnished/sealed/coated the windings?
First of all as per my knowledge there is no DC motor which can work without brush armature. Sealed type AC motors are available even immersion type which can work in the water. The varnish is not guaranteed against water protection, there could be leakage currents possible dangers
Q:one word answer?
You might have bigger fish to fry before to long-- you're probably going to lose your intake manifold gaskets sometime down the road. There was a TSB issued on this problem in earlier models (and I believe the 2004 as well), and thousands of people have been having costly repairs that GM won't cover even though they've known of the problem for some time. It has to do with the Dexcool coolant they put in there (long life coolant) which has somehow been attacking the gasket, leading to a leak-- possibly an internal leak where the coolant gets into your oil and creates the potential for a very bad condition called hydrolock. Further, GM may void your warranty if you flush and oil-change all that stuff out and replace it with the green classic antifreeze.Watch for dropping coolant levels even if you don't see any drips and have that engine checked and replace the gaskets with Felpro replacements. Suggestion-- get thee away from the GM. I threw in some Bars Leak and stuck a FOR SALE sign on mine. Cheap, dirty repair? Dang skippy. I'm not wasting a plug nickel on the thang. That's GM's baby. Nissan is much better and they stand behind their cars. GM needs to stand in front of theirs.
Q:I know it has something to do with the capacitor and a less than 180 degree phase shift. But thats all I know.
Single Phase Motor Reversing
Q:Hi. I am trying to reduce rpm on a AC 1000rpm motor. Is there a way to do this? I want 210 rpm output.?
What you need is a circuit to reduce the percent of the output waveform applied to the ac motor. That will slow down the motor, but I hope you don't want a lot of power. That much chopping will make the motor not be efficient. Talk to some of your geek friends and I think they will be able to help.
Q:I made a three axis CNC router with three CD drives. I was going to make a stepper motor controller board for the CNC but I noticed that the motors are NOT servo motors instead they are hobby motors(the motors with two wires) So is there a schematic anyone knows of that controls a hobby motor with a parallel port? I WILL PICK A BEST ANSWER!!! thank you!
If you want this router to work at all you need micro stepping and cheap easy plans don't offer this. The plans that do end up costing a lot in parts so it's better to just buy a kit. If you have money you can get good controllers from rutex and gecko drives.
Q:What is the minimum size overload protection required for a 480 volt 3 phase 15hp continuous duty motor
The actual thermal overload heater elements I am using are 21 amps with a Service Factor rating of 1.15. For Service Factor of 1.0 (100% Full Load Current) you can go as low as 18 amps. Use a 30 up to 50 Amp Moulded Case Breaker with Magnetic Overload Protection. Hope this helps.
Q:What is the low power factor of AC motor in no-load operation?
First, if it is a single-phase motor, its power factor is equal to the three-phase, then it is low, in this case, the load is unbalanced
Q:What is the size of DC motor and AC motor under the same power?
The output power is the same, and the DC motor is small.. The power consumption is the same as that of AC motor.
