Q:I own a 2000 Honda Accord. When I bought it (used), it came with 20 inch rims that I really love. The issue I have with them though is that sometimes when I make turns or have many people with me and a lot of added weight, the tire touches the car and sort of grinds. This is obviously not a good thing for my tires. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise as to how I can lift the car a bit. I have looked up some car lift parts but have no idea how they work or how to choose the right one to raise my car about 1 to 2 inches. Thanks you for the help in advance!
I can't think of a car more comically unsuited for silly big wheels than an Accord. Put the stock wheels and tire sizes back on it and quit fooling around. zxcvbnm
Q:Factory elevator is a bit old, would like to replace a new cost-effective lift, seeking recommendations.
What is your job at your repair shop? Do you usually change the size and weight of the car in a range of how? Is your repair shop chained? Need to repair and replace the gearbox? Is it possible to repair the exhaust device? Do you usually need to repair the suspension? There are some other needs in the bottom of the car to carry out the maintenance work? Or do you need to do several or all of the above maintenance work at the same time?
Q:Ok So I need to change one of my tires. It is a 2000 VW Passat GLX. The car is kind of low, I think thats how it came, I don't mean dropped like a low rider, but lower than most cars. When I do the oil changes, I need to lift it because the drain pan just fits. Anyways, I don't know exactly where to place the JACK, i dont know where to place it to lift it. I am worried I might place it in the wrong place and might break something or even cause serious damage to the lower body of the car. Can someone please help??? If possible can you please explain the position of the jack, for both front and back. I really don't want to cause any damage to my car. Thank You all for your help.
Just behind the front wheel, roughly in line with the front door hinge line, where the body sheet metal curves inward under the car, you will find a small dimple, same just ahead of the rear wheel in the same area. The dimple marks the lift point. The jack is positioned in line with the dimple, behind or straddling the metal crease located there. Its also described in the owners manual, or a sticker on the jack itself.
Q:Hey guys Itook my car to mechanic because my engine light was on and the code showd that it was unsufficient egr lift or something like thatthey had changed the egr valve before so this time they said there was carbon build up and they cleaned it and my car runs great now. i don‘t have problem with accelaration and the engine doesn‘t stall when i stop, BUT the light came on again and still shows the same code. I am sick of it!!! anybody knows what else could it be? It‘s 94 honda accord with 140 000 miles on it.
Hi Val, It sounds to me like the repair shop made a mistake here, they replaced a part without addressing the condition. If you had a fault for ERG insufficient flow , it would be caused by excessive carbon build-up in the intake manifold or the upper intake plenum, depending on engine. If you had a problem with stall at idle and a fault for excessive EGR flow the culprit would be loose carbon particles lodging in the EGR valve pintle and keeping it open. In either case the carbon needs to be physically removed, this would involve removing the intake manofold and or upper plenum Good Luck!
Q:In a hydraulic lift, the radii of the pistons are 2.55 cm and 9.8 cm. A car weighing W 11.0 kN is to be lifted by the force of the large piston.(a) What force Fa must be applied to the small piston?(b) When the small piston is pushed in by 11.6 cm, how far is the car lifted?(c) Find the mechanical advantage of the lift, which is the ratio W / Fa.
(a) Fa 11.0kN * (2.55 / 9.8)^2 0.745kN 745 N (b) lift distance 11.6cm * (2.55 / 9.8)^2 0.785 cm 7.85 mm (c) W / Fa 11000 / 745 14.8
Q:In a hydraulic lift, the diameters of the pistons are 4.95 cm and 20.3 cm. A car weighing W 10 kN is to be lifted by the force of the large piston. (a) What force Fa must be applied to the small piston? (b) When the small piston is pushed in by 10.4 cm, how far is the car lifted? (c) Find the mechanical advantage of the lift, which is the ratio W/Fa.
