Function:
● Thickening: CMC can produce high viscosity at low concentration. It also acts as lubricant.
● Water retention: CMC is a water binder, helps increase shelf life of food.
● Suspending aid: CMC acts as emulsifier and suspension stabilizer, particularly in icings to control ice crystal size.
● Film forming: CMC can produce a film on the surface of fried food, eg. Instant noodle, and prevent absorption of excessive vegetable oil.
● Chemical stability: CMC is resistant to heat, light, mold and commonly used chemicals.
● Physiologically inert: CMC as a food additive has no caloric value and can not be metabolized.

- Mobil 1 is quickly turning to junk. They're eliminating zinc and phosphate from the oil. This will prevent burnt oil from ruining the catalytic converter, which helps emissions. Trouble is that zinc and phosphate are important in preventing engine wear. They've lost an important oil service classification (what oil is right for what application). I'll be looking elsewhere for oil when I change it in my Porsche this spring. I would recommend looking into Redline engine oil. It's more important to use the recommended octane gasoline, as that will prevent detonation (fuel igniting before it should) and permit your engine to make full power.
