Q:what is the name of the rope used to hoist/lower sails?: A halyard is used to raise and lower the sails. Sheets are used to control the angle of the sails.

I asked the same question but I didn't get a great answer ..... hope you have better luck. I know that it refers to Calypso being bound in human form by Davy Jones and the Pirates Lords, giving control of the seas to pirates rather than to Calypso, and that it calls the Bretheren Court to convene, but I don't know how. I guess it's supposed to be some magical way of calling them together, like the gold medallions in the first movie calling to Barbossa and his crew - it's like the pirates have a kind of sixth sense than enables them to hear it.
